...Hotmail is being seriously crap on me at the moment, delivering mails about a day after i sent them. Can anyone reccommend a reliable email service where i can access my mails via outlook express (ie not solely webmail), preferably free as I am paying for my expanded hotmail?

fastmail.fm is great (you can choose different domains, inc. mailup.net, which I have)

(I access it through my mail client with no probs. you have to pay to use their smtp server for outgoing mail, but this isn't a problem - you can just use your ISP's smtp server for outgoing instead, and it still goes out under the same email address)

It astonishes me that anyone uses hotmail. It sucks now, it sucked before, and it'll suck again.

People like keeping the same address. Yahoo sucks pretty horribly too, Mark

Apart from last Monday when it went down for a day, I'm not having any problems with Hotmail at the moment. You sure it's not a problem with your server?

Yahoo doesn't suck, Nick. I had a week where there was no service at all, but that was like 2 years ago and I've had pretty much no problems with them at all since.

not sure... some people get the emails instantly, others not for a day or so.

I get a lot of spam on Yahoo and the page is full of crap you don't need. I suppose if you're always on broadband it's OK.

try gmail or mail.com

You can't access gmail from Outlook Express, as far as I know.

You can download the gmail notifier to make it more useful.

I've also had a lot of spam through yahoo; and their spam filter is pretty unreliable, too. They did use to have problems with sluggish email in both directions, but it's been OK in the past year or so as far as I can tell.

I think I've had a total of *ONE* piece of spam on my mailup.net account the whole time I've been using it (2-3 years?) despite using the address on here until recently. This isn't because of filtering - you have to pay to get that on it.

Since a few months ago, I've started getting a few of those worm emails with attachments, and returned mail from addresses I haven't emailed, but that's a different issue.

The one piece of spam was from a Nigerian fraudster. Those fiendish Nigerian fraudsters!
