Is it me or does that reek of 50 year old marketing guy who thinks he knows what's cool?

EXO CHIX!!!

Come on, man, they have freestyle moto cross. That's got to fucking rule, right? They should have bmx stunt riders on a big half-pipe, and a breakdancin competition as well.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Dudes, it's like an evangelical Christian rock festival!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Friday, 27 August 2004 21:52 (nineteen years ago) link

It took me all of 2 seconds to figure out this reeked of a Christian gig. It might not be an evangelical thing, it could just be one of those weird interdenominational get togethers. I spotted it right away cos of the utterly limp attempt at "rockin".

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 August 2004 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Hahaha - I just asked Nick "whats that word for when different faiths get together and do something?"

He replied: "War?"

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 August 2004 00:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Yo Trayce - I found it through this...

DUH DUH DUUUUUUH! HILLLLSSSSSSSSOOOOOONG!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 28 August 2004 00:40 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm seriously considering adopting the Exo website's jingle as the soundtrack to my life.

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Saturday, 28 August 2004 01:36 (nineteen years ago) link

BIGEXODAY started at the first event in late 2002, where Youth Ministries across the State got together at Australia's Wonderland to celebrate and tell our mates that life is EXO with Jesus!

I want to hurt these people.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 28 August 2004 01:58 (nineteen years ago) link

I should specify that the "jingle" I'm obsessed with is the one on the EXO CHIX page. It's colonizing my synapses and I can't turn it off...

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:13 (nineteen years ago) link

So here's what's in store for Exo Chix!!!:

"If you're a girl, you probably love fashion, shopping, having fun, & living life in your own special way, well guess what? We think you're amazing & we're giving you an place on the day totally devoted to chix! You can get your hair done, nails painted, make-up done, talk amongst your friends, all whilst hangin' in a fun & relaxing environment, away from loud Motox Bikes & flying Skateboards! If you're an exo chick, you'll love EXO CHIX at BIGEXODAY '04"

Collardio Gelatinous (collardio), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:14 (nineteen years ago) link

"chix"? "Motox bikes"???

Yo, Jesux all be up in dis beeotchx.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm also loving how the devotion to "chix" involves hair and nails and makeup. Way to go, god.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Girls don't like loud stuff, apparently.

This does have someone who was on (but didn't win?) the Australian Pop Idol, though.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Hills0ng ministries, as Mikey linked to, are afoot indeed. It should be explained at this juncture that these guys have somehow amassed a HUGE following out in the 'burbs of Sydney (15k people at events!), and they are all about the MONEY.

That blogspot article is GRATE.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 August 2004 02:34 (nineteen years ago) link

I can't get over that flash intro, I was sure it was a joke at first.

joseph pot (STINKORâ„¢), Saturday, 28 August 2004 14:59 (nineteen years ago) link

what is EXO?

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 29 August 2004 11:53 (nineteen years ago) link

The world's worst attempt to make 'excellent' a slang term.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 29 August 2004 13:30 (nineteen years ago) link

based on the Old English text I thought BIGEXODAY would be a black metal fest, but then WHAT THE HELL CLEAN GUITARS ARPEGGIOS AND PHOTOS OF SMILING POPSTARS!?!?

four years pass...

Def Leppard are among four new acts to be added to this year's Download Festival bill.

The band will be headlining the main stage alongside Slipknot, while Whitesnake are set to return to Donington Park for the fourth time.

The other two acts announced for the event, which takes place between 12-14 June, are the recently reformed Limp Bizkit and US heavy metallers Trivium.

Other bands already on the bill include The Prodigy and Motley Crue.

Pendulum, Korn, DragonForce and Devildriver are also confirmed to appear.

The rock festival, which is now in its seventh year, will see performances from around 100 bands.

Previous headliners at the event have included System of a Down, Metallica and Black Sabbath.

Tickets are available from 9am on 13 February.

now I love Soundgarden so I'm going. but if this gives you an idea of how badly this thing is selling, a seller just dumped a shitload of tickets on Stubhub in the lower bowl for $6.

Charles "Butt" Stanton (Neanderthal), Friday, 28 April 2017 23:02 (six years ago) link

I thought this had been revived for that insane Fyre festival story.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bow Wow Wow, but otherwise this seems like a "Cheese of the 80s" fest. And it's on Catalina Island, so more money to get there.

nickn, Thursday, 26 May 2022 20:35 (one year ago) link

And hosted by Richard Blade, King of Cheese!

nickn, Thursday, 26 May 2022 20:35 (one year ago) link
