am going to be there at the end of this month for a brief holiday and would like to know some good places to visit, eat, go, etc etc. ILE people seem to have pretty good taste in *most* things, so i thought i'd see if anyone had some good suggestions.

Ooh, go to that brewery on the downtown shore - I can't remember what it's called but it was fun. Also, go to one or more of the islands north of Vancouver - they have the most amazing temperate rainforest, and great animals and seas and stuff.

I think I must be doing this to torture myself, but hey. (I haven't been home in over 2 years, sigh.) Late Sept is a great time to go to Vancouver. Go to Stanley Park, of course, walk around the seawall or at least from English Bay to 2nd beach, where the pool is. Go to Commercial Drive for Italian coffee, fresh fruit and vegetables, restaurants, nice atmosphere (if a little hippy). Downtown is kind of nice, what with the art gallery and such, lots of higher-end shopping, but mainstream. (Hon's restaurant on Robson is great.) Go to Kitsalano beach too and Kits in general - 4th avenue, Granville Island, etc. You can even bus out to Lighthouse Park in West Van - it's beautiful. Broadway and Granville area is good for galleries and restaurants. The Banana Leaf on Broadway near Oak is a great Malaysian place (soo good.) Lots of cheap and good sushi to be had everywhere really. Chinatown can be overwhelming as it's fairly big, but do go as there's much to see, buy and eat.
Tip of the iceberg, that, but hey. Have fun!
