Infinite Cats... (cats cats cats cats cats cats...)

I got this email from a friend. OK, are they ripping off Stevem's Infinite ILX0rs animated gif (if someone could find that and post it, I'd be much obliged) or is the webiverse a more synchronicitous place than we imagined...

(Also, I thought given ILX's cat thing, some posters might want to participte.)

http://www.infinitecat.com/

"In case you're wondering what the heck this site is all about...

It all began innocently enough when a user on an Apple help forum posted a picture of his cat, Frankie, contemplating the beauty of a flower. Shortly afterwards another user posted a picture of his cat bristling at the image of Frankie on the monitor. I decided this was too much fun and advanced the concept as The Infinite Cat Project which is, simply, cats regarding cats regarding cats in an electronic melieu.

I'll be happy to post a picture of YOUR cat as long as it is shown looking at a monitor which bears the image of the latest picture in the sequence. Send your pictures to me. All submissions become property of The Infinite Cat Project, yadda-yadda-yadda."

I'd rather see pictures of Ken and Roxy flirting.

OK, I'm sorry that I posted this thread, then. Pardon me for sharing. I'll never mention cats again.

Hey ladies, it was an hilarious ILX style quip!

Oh, Pink, you accidentally posted a picture of a couple of marbles stuck into a back-combed ball of knitting wool.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 10 September 2004 09:04 (twenty-one years ago)

No it's a pic of a cat that will haunt you in your dreams!

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 10 September 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I used to like cats, until I found I was actually allergic to them. I just thought I was an unwell person. But when our cat died, I suddenly felt good!

Considering adoption
Two better than one as a rule or are they solitary?
Or does it depend on temperment/ upbringing?

in my experience 1 is easier to manage but 2 if they get along can be a source of infinite cuteness. would recommend a male/female pairing though as every time i have seen two female cats share a space they tend to fight a lot. no idea about two male cats.

if you are bringing in a 2nd cat to share a 1st cat's space it will take some time no matter what. if you are lucky, days. usually a week or two. but if they get along they can both use the same litter box which is v convenient.

fwiw i opened this thread cos in cold seasons it seems like static electricity builds up and whether it is from all the sweaters and blankets and slippers and stuff i discharge electricity on door handles and stuff. recently i've been seeing multiple sparks when picking up my cat which is pretty crazy. anyone else ever get this?

stop plugging your cat into the mains imo

grim-n-gritty hooty reboot (bizarro gazzara), Friday, 19 January 2018 11:58 (eight years ago)

That(static shox)happens to me and my beloved, former stray Teeny all the time, in winter. She always gives me a look that seems to say "Hey,wtf was that for". Which is then followed by me apologizing profusely. Lol. Poor thing. I hope she knows I love her to death.

VyrnaKnowlIsAHeadbanger, Friday, 19 January 2018 16:41 (eight years ago)

if you have the opportunity to adopt two cats from the same litter imo do it

flamenco drop (BradNelson), Friday, 19 January 2018 16:45 (eight years ago)

Two cats are better than one. Siblings are great since they've already adapted to each other.

We have a 14 year old female and an 8 year old male and just introduced a male kitten. I thought the old lady might mother it and the male might kick its ass, but he and the kitten are bffs and she is warily tolerant. Three cats are not as easy as two but the entertainment value is high.

Static shocks are a thing during the winter, especially with long-haired cats; approach with caution.

the guy upstairs is moving to Buffalo NY and taking the cat with him

This cat has been hanging in my apartment for a decade.. sleeping on the sofa or my bed, hiding in my closet etc. It was here during the early covid lockdowns, and when I actually had covid it was basically my only company

A beautiful and exotic-looking tabby, someone left it in the community garden next door and then we started feeding it, but I've never considered it my cat as much as the building cat.. but the upstairs takes it to the vet etc. and now he's taking it across the country

The cat was waiting at the gate when I got home last night (as with most nights), and came in for his evening treat

It's also is heavily tied up (in my mind) to my ex as she used to let it on weekend mornings to cuddle in bed...To say I have a heavy heart is an understatement

<3 sounds like your kindness contributed to this cat's joyful and peaceful life. Take a lot of photos before he goes, for yourself, but also to share here

H.P, Wednesday, 28 August 2024 22:08 (one year ago)

Thank you... I have some good photos already

Anyway, the cat has now gone into hiding, it got all freaked out... he's looking for it, but if has to leave without it, I guess it'll be my cat

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 28 August 2024 22:35 (one year ago)

Fingers crossed :)

Epilogue: they found the cat, and the cat (Cleveland, named after our street) is now heading back east

I wasn't there to say goodbye, but that's just as well... our last hang was on Tuesday night, when I let him out after his cat treat; that's how I want to remember him, waiting at the door to go out

Our was a symbiotic relationship: I had the companionship of a cat, but no litterbox, no vet bills - he had somewhere to hang out during the day, or on cold winter nights when the heater was going, sitting on my lap while i was reading. I'll miss him but the actual 'owner' (as much as you can 'own' a cat) is a good guy and I've no doubt he'll take good care of him

And in a sense, he'll always be here... I'll be finding grey cat hairs for years to come

Farewell Cleveland the Cat! Maybe the squirrels in Buffalo are easier to sneak up on than Oakland squirrels
