I hate this Friday afternoon ILX lull, when all the Brits are gone and the Americans are trying to frantically finish up work for the weekend or have left early or are catnapping in their hammocks. It feels like we've given up. So I just want to say, DON'T GIVE UP THE FIGHT. It may be Friday afternoon, but there's still two hours of work left for me, and god knows how much left for those West-Coasters, and we need ILX to get it through it. THIS IS A CALL FOR QUANTITY, NOT QUALITY. As the thread category says, ABJECT STUPIDITY.

the beet is the most intense of vegetables
the radish admittedly is more feverish
but the fire of the radish is a cold fire
the fire of discontent not of passion
   tomatoes are lusty enough
yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of
   frivolity
   beets are deadly serious
the beet is a melancholy vegetable
the one most willing to suffer
   you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip . . .
the beet is the murderer returned to the scene of the crime
the beet is what happens when the cherry finishes with the carrot
the beet is the ancient ancestor of the autumn moon
   bearded buried all but fossilized
   the dark green

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 24 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I find these Reese's Pieces w/ peanuts redundant.

Dale Panopticalis (cprek), Friday, 24 September 2004 18:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm fighting off an urge to go sequester a screwdriver from IT, open my keyboard to both clean it and see if there's any forensic proof that my predecessors' DNA was consistent with Homo Sapiens'.

Reese's pieces with peanuts? Redundant, perhaps, but intriguing.

Political Song For R. Kelly To Sing #1: The Valley
By manthony m1cc1o

looking
I'm looking at you over there
underneath the chandelier
everybody's sighing
and the smile
the smile I seebetween your thighs
leaves me left without a care
oh, to be down where...

we can sing in the valley
dance through the field
plow for the harvest
all will be revealed
when I sing in the valley
dance through your field
plow for the harvest
let nothing be concealed
from love

(trumpet solo)

waiting
I'm waiting by the telephone
nibbling on toblerone
to stop myself from crying
i need you
to tell me when you're coming home
these hands they have nowhere to roam
so come and say "shalom"

so we can sing in the valley
dance through the field
plow for the harvest
all will be revealed
when I sing in the valley
dance through your field
plow for the harvest
let nothing be concealed
from love

I wait, I wait for you so pure of heart
you'd come to me if you were smart
I'll give you what the world needs
I'll give you what the world needs

and what the world needs is to sing in the valley
dance through the field
plow for the harvest
all will be revealed
when I sing in the valley
dance through your field
plow for the harvest
let nothing be concealed
from love
from love
from love
