When you think of ILX do you immediately think of a particular geographical location?

....despite the fact we're all scattered round the world?

I must admit I tend to associate it with London.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 25 September 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

A line running through the globe from New York - London - Dunedin, and back again.

I think London - because of the many personal meetings, London ILXers loom larger in my thoughts than those from elsewhere, with the odd special exception: but of the 50 or so ILXers who matter most to me (no, I don't have a list), at least 90% are Londoners.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 25 September 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Also of course it was started by a Londoner, and Freaky Trigger is centred here, and I'm here.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 25 September 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I associate it with the UK, and with London in particular too. That's because you Britons are only a couple of time zones away from me, so I'm more likely to meet you here than the Yanks.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Saturday, 25 September 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

ILX is truly global, but I guess British foremost.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 26 September 2004 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Sunday, 26 September 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

mogadishu

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 26 September 2004 04:18 (twenty-one years ago)

If you live near one of these states, you can always hook up with a group that is going over there to campaign. I think I may do this in Wisconsin, possibly Missouri.

Kerry (dymaxia), Sunday, 26 September 2004 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

My Narnia map vanished. Darn.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 26 September 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

When I think of ILX, I tend to think... yeh, of those woods -- to south-east of the road between Põlva and Võru, towards the general direction of Russland -- in which I've never roamed, actually. (Yes, I'm somewhat suprised myself)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't really have a place in mind when i think of ilx.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

(well i lied too ...just a little bit)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:34 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah london a little bit...

robin (robin), Sunday, 26 September 2004 22:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Ormskirk, mostly.

Matt (Matt), Sunday, 26 September 2004 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Glasgow, of course.

Cathy (Cathy), Sunday, 26 September 2004 22:25 (twenty-one years ago)

A sterile overheated server room full of whirring fans, somwhere in Melbourne's CBD (probably).

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 27 September 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

That bit of the Glasshouse Stores round by the bar billiards table.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 27 September 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

call me weird or something, but it's in this little box at Andrew's place.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 27 September 2004 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Except the box isnt at his house! :D its colocated in a server facility (hence my post above, hehe)

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 01:56 (twenty-one years ago)

ILX exists in each and every computer.

(The Quaker interpretation)

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm THE ILQUAKER! Seriously! (Are there any others?)

You're no Friend of mine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ohh.. man...

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I think its cool you were (are?) a quaker Jer - I saw a doco on Compass (a show abt religions) some time ago and was quite intriguied! It seemed like taoism, only christian. Or something. Is that right?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Jer, I'm sort of an ILQUAKER

Free the Bee (ex machina), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

mostly were. parents are, but I'm scarecly quakering now. It's practiced mostly in the US as a non-denominational sect though it's officially Christian. This link describes in a little more detail: the effectively multi-denominational bent of the organization.

Jon, aren't noise dudes and quakers sworn enemies? Just imagine Lee C1asp3r-T0rch's face hearing Wolf Eyes during a meeting!

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to a Quaker school from K-12, so I've attended many a Quaker meetings.

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

what school?

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm...

should I divulge personal information moment on ILX.

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Why, do I know you?

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know. Probably not.

Anyways, it's in D.C.

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

You're Chelsea Clinton, I knew it!

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Shhh! Shut up!

I'm so sick of this shit!

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm very close to the location of the box.

the surface noise (slight return) (electricsound), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha... I actually think of it as being located back in Boston, since that's where I began posting regularly.

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:06 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a covert op to compromise ILX.

Stop him before he gets to the box!

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I've thrown up some razor wire, starving bears, and bombs with wires of tremendous chromatic diversity attached to the fuse.

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Chromatic diversity? You'll be using your psionic powers next.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

vvvvHWOOOSCHHUFFFFKCKRFKKAHZZHKFKPLNGUFDNPHAP!

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Boy this thread got weird all of a sudden.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, I usually associate ILX, geographically, with either Australia, New Zealand, California, NYC, or London. All places that are VERY, VERY FAR AWAY from me. Um, like I mentioned once or twice before. ;)

(But seriously, no fear of repercussion!! Damn, need to be more fun.)
