College is tough for Larry - he's basically a pathetic loser who occasionally gets out and hits on chicks, but things always go horribly wrong. When a reality TV dating show comes to campus, Larry decides he's going to revitalize his life by winning the contest and proving once and for all that he can live up to the shining example set by his Old Uncle Larry.
Follow Larry's hilarious exploits and misadventures in the wackiest college story ever. Updated for the 21st century with 3D graphics, engaging real-time conversations, and a fully realized college campus, Larry is back to give gamers some lovin'. Remember, it's not about who you impress, but who you get to undress!

I stopped buying Sierra games after Police Quest for the above reason(s)... thankfully, their entire output after this game started to suck anyway, so good riddance.

so there's a kickstart campaign to port the original LSL to iOS - my interest is piqued
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 09:42 (fourteen years ago)
I was going to write a long whiny post about the contradiction between my furtive enjoyment of LSL 1 and 2 in super-blocky 16-colour EGA aged 10 and barely understanding some of the key plot points, vs me now as an adult woman who finds the thought of a similar game being made now (especially with realistic hi-res graphics, which I suppose an iphone version will not really have) totally horrible and tacky and demeaning
but now I see I could just paste what someone male wrote 7.5 years ago, and not have to feel like such a prudish killjoy:
i think the lord didn't intend for certain games to enter the 3 dimensional era.― m. (mitchlnw), Saturday, September 25, 2004 5:32 PM (7 years ago)
PS I am still quite nostalgic for LSL2, which is p. tame, and the bit where every time you stand up on the aeroplane the stewardesses appear out of nowhere and block the aisle with their trolleys is part of our treasured family collection of running jokes about air travel
― instant coffee happening between us (a passing spacecadet), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 10:42 (fourteen years ago)
first couple of LSLs are pretty harmless as far as I can remember them from my teenage years
― licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 25 April 2012 12:28 (fourteen years ago)
i think the recent spinoffs have missed the point that they're comedies about a sleazeball and instead tried to be titillating? i don't know, i probably just read that on hardcore gaming 101
― thomp, Wednesday, 25 April 2012 12:32 (fourteen years ago)
tbf it would have been quite difficult to make the originals titillating considering the graphics they had at their disposal
― Number None, Wednesday, 25 April 2012 12:42 (fourteen years ago)
I remember reading about this kickstart campaign. The interesting thing was that a large contribution earns you a trip to vegas where you limo travel with the game creators and voice guy or something along those lines. I'd rather see a new Larry than remakes with bits of changed dialog even though I may have only played 5 and 6.
Kicstart game campaigns are a pretty cool way to rock old adventure game programmers/artists out of retirement.
