That can't be right.

I avoid going to the Post Office as much as possible. Post Offices in Oxford are full of great long queues of old people who smell of wee, and a visit is not a terribly nice experience.

One day however I shall doubtlessly be old and smell of wee too, and then I'll hang out there all the time.

if there were more Post Offices, there would be less need for queueing and so the pensioners would be there for less time and would be less likely to wee themselves.

More Post Offices now!

Does anyone know where I put my fish and chips? I keep forgetting things.

five years pass...

this person I worked for sent my check to me from the other side of L.A. last Thursday (it was probably picked up by the mail Friday) but it hadn't shown up at my PO Box as of yesterday (Tues).

so Santa Monica to the Valley in five or six days? The only reason my check could still come in today or tomorrow is because this is Christmas and the snail mail is log-jammed, right? What do you guys think? Should I ask her to re-send or to let me pick it up in a few days, or should I just hope I get my damn paycheck before Christmas?

It will probably come still. Last week I mailed a birthday card from downtown Oakland post office to San Leandro, the next city over, and it took over a week.
