How much do you hate roadworks?

Fun, fun!!?? It's chaos here right now! They are always blocking the road and digging up bits in Oxford and at the moment the main road near my house is a big mess of holes, barriers and cones. I'm sure someone's going to get killed soon coz the traffic is being controlled by workmen walking into the road and stopping the traffic like lollipop men who've had their lollies nicked.

There was a sign up on the main road from Renfrew into Paisley all last week saying "Road closed 24-27 September for resurfacing". So I got up early specially on Friday to brave the huge detour I was going to have to take, and THEY HADN'T CLOSED THE ROAD AT ALL. Extra Brownie points for being in work half an hour early though.

Yeah, there was a whole cycle path network that sprung up overnight and totally unheralded in Inverness just towards the end of the financial year. Funny that.

there's similar stuff happening right outside our house too, in fact. the deadline here seems to be "01 october" - tho i doubt they'll manage.

coming back to Edinburgh yesterday I got a couple of miles from the Forth Road Bridge and was greeted by a huge tailback and signs saying "Road Works. 60mins delay." I was only delayed for 20mins so I was happy. They should always over-exaggerate the expected delay because I'd normally be really pissed at a 20min delay, but compared to an hour it was like a gift.
