it was ok! beautifully filmed--actually this movie should win an award for location scouting alone! i found it pretty jaunty and fun, and to be honest i enjoyed it most when i forgot it was about che and just watched it like a buddy flick/road trip movie. when you sense che's DESTINY ahead of him it's too keen and biopicish, but thankfully salles keeps that to a minimum.

Yeah, it looked good despite the Che business.

It looks a bit...tasteful. Is it?

Yer man is gorgeous though.

As a heterosexual male, I must agree with that.

I already started a thread about The Motorcycle Diaries. And mine had an upside down question mark, and everything.

it was less "tasteful" than i had hoped, i think. it was kinda goofy in places which i liked.

Worth a thread all it's own: Why do all indie films have the same annoying trailer now, the same way all blockbuster films have the same trailer? I'm near refusing to see Motorcycle Diaries because of that alone.

yes! your punishment is cruel, yes, but absolutely necessary for fighting the real enemy! never back down! never surrender!

I saw it on Saturday. Although I enjoyed the gorgeous scenery, frankly I didn't think the film added up to much. Too sentimental (a major fault of Walter Salles), the pacing was incredibly slow, which was in turn due to the fact that there was essentially no plot and no conflict. I think it would have worked much better as a documentary, with two young guys following the Che's footsteps, alternating their own adventures with the Che's.

Before you go see it, you might want to read:

Or you might not.
