found a copy of 4.48 psychosis at the bottom of a box of old NZ poetry chapbooks in our store, liked the design of the cover; eventually read it on a ferry. shaken.

all I know re: kane is that she was some sort of enfant terrible in 90s UK theatre; & a suicide.

what's yr take? how is she currently viewed? which plays of hers are worth tracking down?

(also : I'm fairly ignorant wrt/theatre post-beckett.)

I think she was not well liked at the time but more respected in retrospect. I've never seen anything of hers so I can't advance a proper opinion on her.

There was a season of her plays at the Royal Court a few years ago, not long after her death, which was pretty well received, but I don't know whether she'll end up being remembered.

Crave is an incredible play, to read or to see (though preferably see, as with 4.48 - as with all plays, but. The way the two of them are written/set out, there's so much space for a production to differ... the ones I've seen have been either the original prod. or based on the original). I'd definitely recommend that, but 'blasted' gets a bit... less convincing as it goes on, and I'm not all that convinced by 'Cleansed'. 'Phaedra's Love' is more... lightweight than the rest, maybe? But I like it.
