When you first came to ILX, how did you treat other ppl here?

This is not a nu ILX vs old ILX thread!!!
My reason for asking is that I notice that some new ppl (it might just have been that I didn't notice them before or we were just on different threads) can be either overly friendly or really combative. How were you? Also, how did other ppl react to you?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I was a jerk, but I've mellowed.

Huk-L, Monday, 27 September 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I was more timid, and if anybody snipped at me I'd be really offended. Now: I'm really offended, but I just go on TITTWIS and moan openly.

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Ya damned whiner. Oh wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I got into an argument with Momus.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a thread in itself: 'When was your first Momusment?'

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:40 (twenty-one years ago)

"When were you first Neducated?"

"When was your first Jeremiad?"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, you have always been extremely pleasant to me actually, even way back when! aww!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I was horrible. Just horrible. When I wasn't being a little bitch, I was being a pervert. Somtimes I combined the two. I do hope I've gotten better in the last 2-3 years.

Ain't That Peculiar (kenan), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Even though I was an idiot (not just on ilx) I treated people okay I think, I never got involved too much just lurked and posted rarely. not much has changed but i think i'm less of an idiot now.

someone made an uneccessarily abusive comment towards one of my first ever posts but i pretty much ignored it.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

"When did you first try it?"

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, you have always been extremely pleasant to me actually, even way back when! aww!

*merry*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I was pretty timid. I lurked for a while, then got sad when no one replied to my very occasional comments, so one day I decided to post a lot more so that I would have more of a presence.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't... actually... remember....

Danger Whore (kate), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

haha... Neducated!

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuzzy - are you the Fuzzy that I know from Chicago? With the back porch and the grill and the blog and stuff? Why haven't I noticed you here before?

Ain't That Peculiar (kenan), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a classic, m'friend:

Ned Raggett is...."Neducated"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I was drunk and didn't care.

That still stands pretty much.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

(the art is brilliant)

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I always took it really personally if someone didn't reply to my threads/posts. Now I don't really give a flying whatsit! It's nice when ppl can answer your threads/posts on a more personal note though. I was pretty wary of most ppl here though, especially the more popular posters.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

If only all the images still worked!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

kenan, no i'm not the one from chicago. sorry.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh and my posts weren't ever sarcastic for fear of ppl taking it the wrong way! (which little did I know at the time, would have sat perfectly with the ILX locals!)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I chastised people for not welcoming newcomers! Downhill from there, I fear.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh ilx, baby, you know I treated you so right. Why you gotta be this way?

Kim (Kim), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

i think people thought i was in cahoots with jon williams (because he brought me here) so maybe i was/am as annoying as him. even though i only posted like 10 times. so now i just read, it moves too fast for me anyway. i love the internet though and i'm really not annoying like jon! hi!

caitlin hell (caitxa), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i treated them to a hot bath, cup of hot tea and a choice of periodicals.

kephm, Monday, 27 September 2004 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

They made you hot and wet?

{Sand in the [vaseline} on the lens] (x Jeremy), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

i smacked everybody around and strutted like a peacock in my best finery

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

With extreme caution, sometimes expressed as sarcasm...

Archel (Archel), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

And then you went and covered yourself in poutine, Slocki.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

some of them i drowned

kephm, Monday, 27 September 2004 13:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I find it quite amusing thinking about how some ppl have changed towards me. Some are still bitchy/wankers & probably always will be, but other ppl's niceness will always make up for this.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I just tended to de-lurk on threads where I knew people, as some sort of comfort. And I didn't treat anyone like anything, I don't think. I'm a bit more comfy here now, but still only really slag off people I know in real life, because sarcasm doesn't translate very well and I don't want anyone else to be offended.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

That confession I find deliberately provocative.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 September 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I was any different to how I am now. Didn't know anyone on ILX when I started, so I tended to post whatever, nothing combative nor that friendly.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Jel, are you a secret sex pervert?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not really sure! I think I was just bland. But I didn't get annoyed secretly inside when no one ever noticed me.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

No Mark, I'm rather baffled by your question.

Free the Bee (ex machina), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess because you seem so utterly, genuinely nice! No-one's that nice. Tell us about your bad points.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

There are two things that people tend to do that really annoy the living hell out of me-- 1) When people get that secretary's sense of humor, when you ask for a paperclip or something and they hold out their hand and go, "$5 please!!".. and then you sit there, staring at them blankly and then they start laughing hysterically and going, "JUST KIDDING! Don't WORRY!" or.. when you're trying to get somewhere and someone's in the way and they go "Pay the toll first!!! HEHEHEEH!" Yeah, well, just me typing that out annoyed me. 2) When you are chatting with two people at once, and Person A will tell a story, i.e., "Yeah, my flatmate would always have sex out on our couch." and Person B will think that somehow I DO NOT GET IT FULLY and he or she will interject and tell the same story, except with a really serious facial expression and hand gestures, "NO NO! Like.. her flatmate.. HAD SEX... on her couch!"
Besides those two things, women with hordes of kids really piss me off.

-- Mandee (MyMomSay...), September 21st, 2001.

I think back then I would never check back to threads after I'd posted on them.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I must have been psychic back then. I obviously knew all about Gear's future roommate problems.

Anyhow, the two things I listed above do not really annoy me anymore.

Towelette Pettatucci (Homosexual II), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Pet-a-tushy, you've never been bland!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I was an utter twat for most of my first year/18 months. Attack, attack, attack, stir, stir, stir. Not to bore you with my life story but I'm a lot less of a stresshead these days and I'd like to think I'm a lot mellower, even if one or two topics that always come around get me a bit heated. The main problem I've got is that a lot of people haven't forgotten a lot of the twatty stuff (shouting out of cars anyone?) and a few seem to hold silly grudges (particularly Mr. Golf Rave).

Gribowitz (Lynskey), Monday, 27 September 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

My bad points? There are loads - chronic avoidance, bad at getting things done, anti-social to a degree, not really into trying new things...

jel -- (jel), Monday, 27 September 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

i was mean and said stupid things. what has changed?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 27 September 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I taugnt everyone a lesson they have since forgotten.

adam. (nordicskilla), Monday, 27 September 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

what was that then?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 27 September 2004 21:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I was 14 years old and determined to spread the gospel of Blue Man Group to all of ILX!!!

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 27 September 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

polite.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 27 September 2004 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I do remember when Curt1sss showed up but.. after awhile, especially since Aj* appeared, I started to kinda suspect that Curt1sss wasn't the age he said he was :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 27 September 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the little diamond patterns on wafer cookies.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 27 September 2004 22:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I was a stroppy, needlessly argumentative jackass. Some might suggest that nothing's changed.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 September 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

when i come to any message board, I just start talking as if I've been there forever, no hellos and no goodbyes. My net personality is usually polite so that's your answer I guess.
