I wonder, is there anyone at ABC who knows the implications of the title of their new show "WIFESWAP"?

ABC is owned by Disney, so yes.

If this is an import of the British show then, yes, well here anyway, the implications were known. But Channel 4 might be a bit more comfortable with defying expectation/using innuendo than ABC, I don't know.

This lady I work with who watched the show mentioned no sexual mashups. I am disappointed. If I'm gonna hunker down for a half-hour of WIFESWAP, there better be some tittehs in the hands of another man's husband goin' on.

Wife Swap

Bit of background information here. Epsiodes of the British version have been pretty menko so I can't *imagine* what depths the American version will plumb.

"Mom Swap" is more apt, but I'm sure the actual title will pull in more viewers.

I'm quite close to a couple people who work on this show (including someone very high up in the credits); I've told them all, not even half-joking, that they're going to hell for this. Not for the title, obviously, but for how this fucks with the lives of the children involved. You can't imagine how fucked up these people are; the shit that goes on during the filming of this show is ugly and fucking psychologically brutal.

Sorry to sound like a total prig; I recognize that, in theory, the parents are at fault for agreeing to participate in the hopes that they can get "famous," but I still can't stomach the thought of this massive corporation making money by exploiting and exacerbating the serious dysfunctions and psychological wounds of these fucked up families. Rest assured, if any normal, healthy families apply for this show they're passed right over. Makes for boring TV, you know?

Sorry, end of rant.
