One of the best t-shirts I ever saw read "Boss for Pres".

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:28 (twenty-one years ago)

can someone convince david bowie to renounce his swiss citizenship and move permanently to NYC?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

and will either Eminem or Jay-Z be 35 by the time election 2008 rolls around?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Pauly Shore?

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Schwarzzenegger can't run for President because the presidency is restricted to those born in the U.S.A.

amateur!!!st (amateurist), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Not if Orin Hatch has anything to say about it.

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:39 (twenty-one years ago)

amateurist in taking things literally shocka

Free the Bee (ex machina), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

How about Big Bird, cus clearly some Americans have no trouble electing a puppet.

(Bahahaha)

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

David Bowie is a swiss citizen?

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Warren Beatty

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't Warren Beatty's personal history kind of knock him out of the running?

Or Bulworth at least?

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I sure wish Clint Eastwood was about ten years younger.

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Warren Beatty is a perfect match for Ahnuld - he was an even bigger horndog, but it was always (AFAIK) consensual. That's a leg up right there.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to run Rocky-era Stallone. The ultimate American underdog, which is what the Democratic party stands for. Not to mention the debates would be out of this world.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:19 (twenty-one years ago)

wasn't stallone a clinton and gore supporter?

also, lest we forget ... HOWARD STERN (not entirely facetiously).

What Celebrity Should The Democrats Prepare In Case Schwarzzenegger Ever Runs for President?

Maria Shriver!

Oh wait.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 03:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Schwarzzenegger can't run for President because the presidency is restricted to those born in the U.S.A.

I assumed the thread was inspired by this news item.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually support this, but not because it might get Schwarzzenegger elected.

If he does become president, it'll be funny having a prez who's name is constantly being spelled wrong.

supercub, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 04:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait until I become the first Green Landeshauptmann of Styria, dudes.

(There's one z in Schwarzenegger. I can't spell a lot of things, but I can spell "Black Plowman".)

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 06:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Jerry Springer!

(who is also prevented from becoming president by the born-in-the-USA law)

caitlin (caitlin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris Rock and Bernie Mac on the same ticket would get the job done.

lukey (Lukey G), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I sure wish Clint Eastwood was about ten years younger.

He's a Republican

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't Chris Rock also a Republican?

(as, I suspect, is Michael Moore underneath it all - read his "Manifesto for Reasonable Republicans" in Dude Where's My Country?)

Jasper Milvain, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Colin, it's "Ploughman".

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Hulk Hogan would walk it.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Linda Hamilton

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Oprah Winfrey. Strategically, a slam-dunk.

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

In American, it's plow, yough.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 11:34 (twenty-one years ago)

But "plow" looks stupid

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 11:36 (twenty-one years ago)

But it looks like it sounds!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

So why doesn't it rhyme with "flow" and "glow" then?

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Rhyme: Plough / Trough

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

"The tough coughs as he ploughs the dough."

Colin Meeder (Mert), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

"He sloughs through the bough as he ploughs the trough of Brian Clough."

Maurice E, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

... on the banks of Lough Neagh

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:27 (twenty-one years ago)

enough

Cough Dough, Tuesday, 28 September 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

No need to get in a hough.

No, wait...

beanz (beanz), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Words are awesome.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Hough = horrible jellied meat muck that my dad used to like - pronounced HOCH (in Scotland anyway)

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost
the thing about warren beatty is that he has a bill clinto-esque believable dismissiveness about his past where he can acknowledge that it is ambiguously unsavory, but to dig further into it would cheapen the discourse. plus -- the big secret would be that warren beatty could actually physically kick arnold schwarzeneger's ass. i once read somewhere (in a fiction book though :( ) of warren beatty's incredible threshold for pain. plus, clearly the governator would be outgroped. plus, one was conan and the other was fucking clyde motherfucking barrow. it's no contest really.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Beatty is obvious because he's had almost as many women as JFK and Clinton

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Will Smith.

Wooden (Wooden), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I sure wish Clint Eastwood was about ten years younger.
He's a Republican

Actually, he's a libertarian. He doesn't like the government "tellin' folks what they need to do." Eastwood's revelation led to this unfortunate quote from the Libertarian Party:

"Talk about making my day," said the Libertarian Party's National Director, Perry Willis. "Having Clint Eastwood declare himself a libertarian is better than a fistful of dollars. We hope his announcement will have a sudden impact on the public's awareness of the libertarian philosophy -- and the Libertarian Party, too."
Sigh. So sign me up for Paul Newman, I guess.

Emilymv (Emilymv), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Ditto on Tom Hanks (even though I can't stand him.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Doesn't Courtney Love need something to do?

Satan's Onion (twowaydream), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 18:26 (twenty-one years ago)

It's gotta be Oprah. I'm saying Clinton/Winfrey '08

derrick (derrick), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

If he does become president, it'll be funny having a prez who's name is constantly being spelled wrong.

Not to mention pronunciation.

Sexual Air Supply (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Because to pronouncing wrong!

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah! Rosy Perez! Her speeches would be better.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Will Smith I read somewhere is also a Republican.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)
