Paul Daniels has quit rural reality show The Farm after a bust-up with Vanilla Ice.

The entertainer packed his bags this morning, leaving wife Debbie McGee behind.

The furious row with former rapper Vanilla Ice – real name Robert van Winkle – erupted last night over the hostage situation in Iraq.

Vanilla started the argument by saying: “All Britain cares about is publicity. That’s why you’re going to negotiate with those weak-ass terrorists. You can’t negotiate, that means they’ve won.”

He bragged about US superiority, ranting: “We’re not soft. We are the protectors, the superpower and we will win.”

Daniels accused the US of starting the war in a bid to get its hands on Iraqi oil, to which Vanilla bellowed he had been brainwashed.

“I can’t believe you’d say something stupid like that,” the ex-rapper yelled. “Take a poll. Ask the world did Saddam need to get got and you will get a ‘yes’.”

Daniels shouted back: “I’m not going to calm down, you’re the one that’s shouting and I’m as mad as hell.”

After sleeping on it, Daniels decided he had had enough.

The final straw came when the contestants failed to light the coal-fuelled stove this morning and were left without heating or hot water.

McGee tried to calm him down but Daniels was determined to leave. The couple hugged before saying their goodbyes and Daniels told her: “I will miss you like crazy.”

Shaking Vanilla Ice’s hand, he quipped: “It’s been a pressure.”

A spokesman for Five said: “Living on a working farm was always going to be a culture shock. It’s a shame that Paul found the going too tough but we respect his decision to leave.”

The other contestants on the show are Stan Collymore, Rebecca Loos, Margi Clarke, Lady Victoria Hervey, Ritchie Neville and Jeff Brazier.

Ritchie Neville and Jeff Brazier - who they?

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder who Vanilla Ice will vote for this November?

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ritchie Neville was in 5ive (the boyish one), Jeff Brazier is Jade Goody's ex.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah I remember Ritchie Neville now. Jeff Brazier is the boyfriend of someone who was once in a reality show - we're all going to hell in a handcart

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a complete conglomeration of tossers. Build a bonfire and burn them all! Publicity bothering freaks.

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Shaking Vanilla Ice’s hand, he quipped: “It’s been a pressure.”

hahaha I hope this was an intended reference.

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Jesus christ.
people are actually paid money for commissioning worthless shit like this?

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:43 (twenty-one years ago)

But but but it's what "we" want to watch

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Allegedly.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

don't watch it. don't talk about it.

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Who are any of these people besides Vanilla Ice? Why is Ice the only American?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

This:

“I can’t believe you’d say something stupid like that,” the ex-rapper yelled. “Take a poll. Ask the world did Saddam need to get got and you will get a ‘yes’.”

ha ha DID SADDAM NEED TO GET GOT

UHMAYRICKUH ROOOLZ

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

He's the crappiest American they could find

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe dude would call himself Vanilla fucking Ice when his actual real name has such hellacious awesome potential.

x-post MOST OTMest thing ever

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:47 (twenty-one years ago)

He's DESPERATE

Rumpy Pumpkin (rumpypumpkin), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I watched this last night, and my world is a slightly worse place for it. Though I did like when Vanilla Ice referred to Chris Rock (I think) as a cocksucker, and Debbie McGee screamed at the use of such nasty language and Paul Daniels took her up to waltz round the end of the kitchen in their own wee world so she didn't have to hear the bad man swear.

Otherwise, utterly pointless. I predict that Loos will shag Collymore though, she was on last night about how he was nice "but I should stay away from footballers" hahahaha how funny she is.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Phil Daniels - Classic or Dud?

multiple xposts

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

For comedic value though, the reason he was calling Chris Rock a cocksucker was because he once told an offensive joke about him, something to do with all good rap artists being dead but noone having killed Vanilla Ice. He was incandescent with rage at the thought of such a slur, but everyone laughed at the joke which kind of killed his indignation dead somewhat.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 15:51 (twenty-one years ago)

PAUL Daniels not PHIL Daniels, ha ha (xpost)

Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

haw

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

You have to admit it's way better if you imagine Phil Daniels.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:09 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I think it's actually much better with Paul Daniels.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:12 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd prefer Helen Daniels RIP. Anne Haddy would rule the farm with her Antipodean iron fist.

Brigadier Rainham Steele, Mrs (blueski), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Oops! I was imagining this exchange with Phil Daniels (in his "Quadrophenia" attire, even). Who is Paul Daniels?

Nemo (JND), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

He's a midget magician from the 80s.

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, Alba. There were so many midget magicians in the 1980s I have trouble remembering them all.

Nemo (JND), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

They took off CSI Classic for *this*?

Sigh. It was so apalling that I headed over for NY-LON. Lasted 20 minutes into that. Argh.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I have had the fortunate pleasure of not seeing this, but the kind of ppl that are on it, I really don't think I could bring myself to watch.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you see Too Posh To Wash last night, PinX0r?

He really was my dream man... ;-)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Euw kate, he was awful! Did you not see the science guys reaction when he lifted his arm up exposing his armpit? I nearly vomited. Although, I did think he looked better with a beard. he was very strange after he'd been washed. Or maybe he was just stoned!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:56 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, it was a bit excessive with all the crud on his hands, but he was so clearly hamming it up for the camera. (What do you expect, he hangs around with ac-TORS all the time.) I like a boy with a bit of paint under his fingernails.

He was cutest when they went back after a week, and he was so clearly regressing to his old ways.

Definitely stoned, though. Sigh. Which I guess means he isn't my dream man after all.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

(I'm still waiting to see The Dirt Queen turn up on Too Posh To Wash, though!)

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 07:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's the dirt queen?

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:05 (twenty-one years ago)

My former landlady in Hoxton. She really was too posh to wash. Ugh!

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Eurgh! I would just feel so manky. 'oh i feel so much better after that wash' well fucking dah!!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Really, he just wanted a girl to put him in a bathtub and clean him. That's what all dirty boys secretly want. It's half the fun.

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, if you'd have gone anywhere near him you'd have died of soooo many gross things! yuk! They didn't mention his teeth either, they were pretty gross!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:20 (twenty-one years ago)

CSI clssic is on tonight instead kate.

wathced the farm last night because of this thread. was secretly hoping that Vanilla Ice had developed some kind of underground cool like Lydon. tuned in to see him justifying the iraq war and claiming all the brits had been fed lies by the media. oh um.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

We met Deb Mc in a lift, last week. Reading Oracle. She asked what level she'd just parked her car in. Our Alice (4) told her. Two. She's good like that.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

But I'm not going to be home tonight, I'm going to be sodden with booze and dancing like a fool!

TUESDAY NIGHT IS THE ONE NIGHT I MAKE SURE THAT I STAY IN TO WATCH CSI, HOW CAN THEY F*CK WITH MY LIFE LIKE THIS?!?!?!?

Danger Whore (kate), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 08:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(but they're repeats) 8)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

So let me get this straight Paul Daniels quoted "Network" and made a joke about Vanilla Ice ripping of "Under Pressure" and came out against the war in Iraq?

New found respect.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

It doesn't make up for 30-odd years of "I'm going to leave Britain if Labour win the next election" ranting.

Vanilla Ice? Isn't he like the Cavan O'Connor to Eminem's Elvis?

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul Daniels roxx!! I spent the entire 80s thinking he was just some kind of miginous northern freak with a penchant for young blonde slappers... But then I saw that Louie Theroux docu-interview thing and i've loved him and his fine wife debbie mcgee ever since! they're really just the cutest couple and she's well not the golddigger i thought!! the farm however is shit on a stick, and 'the ice' is a c*$t...

trix, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, i'd forgotten about all that labour ranting stuff. maybe i'm just a sucker for magic.

trix, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Admittedly Paul Daniels ranting about leaving Britain is like me ranting about leaving ILx so I suppose I should cut him a modicum of stick.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 29 September 2004 09:28 (twenty-one years ago)

have we discussed the reason why, every time there's a story on Paul Daniels in the Sun, there will also be a news story relating to dogs on the same page?

Given Blairs recent GWB supporting record, I might leave.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Tony Blair has made a record in support of Bush? I must hear this!
