the random sleb presenter thing is a gimmick that everyone seems to like, but producers and execs still seem to prefer the idea of anodyne presenter dude with perfect teeth not allowed to look or be as interesting as the performers (not hard most weeks) - damn their oily focus groups (attended by just them and mirrors?)

There was a German one (Ronnie's Pop Show) that was hosted solely by a chimp. The other one I remember (Formel Eins) used to have the normal Eurythmics and Huey Lewis and Freeze and Trio and Baltimora stuff, but every now and again, you'd have Einsturzende Neubauten or someone come on.

I remember, specifically, that Moby was doing 'That's When I Reach For My Revolver' when Frankie Dettori was hosting it, owing to how Frankie would repeatedly refer to him as "KERRRAYZEE MOHBEE!"

It is weird how a lot of the TOTP presenters from when it relaunched at the start of the 90's sort of vanished without trace from telly.
