B**** - died after 4 days, heart attack, RIP.

M***** - fought endlessly when young, too much sibling rivaly now get on famously. Works in Chemical plant, devoted father.

J**** - musician, studio engineer, seeing his one-time House incarnation rock Amsterdam's Paradiso was damn cool.

P**** - same working class background, but Cambridge grad.(respect), quit lucrative job to train for missionary work in China. Intense.

3 brothers: Jim, 2 years older, small town CT lawyer, married with 4 children, the family success story, we're very very different but he's great. LOVE the wife and kids. Mike, 1 year older. Well, he died a couple of years ago. He was a writer, he was a punk rocker for a spell then a Deadhead. Of my 6 siblings, we had the most in common. Junkie off and on all his adult life. Steve, 2 years younger. A real estate agent in DC. He sends me cutesy Catholic joke e-mails, I can't stand it. Annoying wife. Bah.

Two brothers.

Barry is 21 and he does Physics and Chemistry or something I'm stupid at in Trinity College (I'm meant to hate them being in DCU I think but anyway). We get on fine. He's always out and so am I so we see each other little enough to have a laugh. Sometimes I go out with him and his friends. We co-operate very well for parties or whatever when parents are away.

Peter is 28 and he lives in London. I guess we have the oldest youngest thing going on, cos we've always got on well. Also he's more into music than Baz so we have that aswell. I go over a bit to see him and it's always fun. Like this summer when I went to the Essential Festival. Yeah and he's engaged recently too so I get to go over for a wedding next year sometime.

Brothers are good yeah.

They're all right. One talks endlessly about Churchill, Gorbachev, and 1984 but he tries really hard to be nice, so they cancel out. He's in eighth grade. The other is younger and standing behind me. He's okay too. I don't like sharing rooms with them on vacations though (like I am doing now). I can't sleep what with the tossing around and muttering.

My real brother is good company and a thoroughly decent bloke. He'd be a friend if he wasn't already my brother. I love him because you do that with brothers, but I really like him too. We go to football and gigs, and have even been on holiday together (past the age when your parents make you do that, I mean). My foster brother has overcome a shitty start to his life to become a great husband and daddy and now lives in Florida, which is cool because it means I get to go visit him.

My brother prefers to be left alone, or so he would have us believe. He has been struggling to find an adequate permanent job for some time. We fought a lot growing up and it was often unpleasant. It was always great when we laughed at the same things though. Likewise when he suffers I seem to as well. He is a bit like me but slobbier, more inconsiderate/self-centred (but more out of absent-mindedness rather than malice), short-tempered and maybe even more hapless. Like me he is often too negative-minded (see previous sentence). Things are cooler now but still too cold for my liking. I wish I knew him more/I wish there was more to know. It shouldn't be this way.

god i did this 9 years ago...scary.

so to redux.

two brothers, barry (3 years older) and peter (10 years older). what's different to last time I did this is that when I was younger I was v close to my older brother as he's v into music, and even into my early 20s we hung out a lot and went to clubs and things sometimes if I was in London.

but in the last few years despite having v little in common interest wise with my other brother, I find I get along much better with him, and we're more similar as people. he's v into outdoorsy stuff like biking/canoeing etc, and not a music fan at all really, but as I say just on a basic level we seem to be more similar.

my older brother is a strange one, he still goes out raving and stuff or goes to festivals, at a point when I can't be bothered with that kind of thing, it's a bit weird, I feel like I'm older sometimes when I speak to him! Don't know who that's more an indictment of...
