ok, she's been suspended rather than fired outright, but even so...

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:33 (twenty-one years ago)

the chick who writes http://www.dooce.com got sacked because of her blog too. ages ago though.

gem (trisk), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:35 (twenty-one years ago)

That's far too harsh. Companies in over-reacting shokah.

MarkH! Glad to see you back in worktime - are you away from the office today, or have they switched ILXOR back on for you?

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

i still have a pack of Beechams left.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I am extremely and scrupulously careful not to talk about my day job on any of my blogs.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Whoah that's pretty harsh.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Does that picture bring the airline into disrepute? Absolutely not. Do airlines bring themselves into disrepute by deliberately employing ppl on the basis of their looks and insisting that the stewardesses wear uniforms which include skirts well above the knee? Possibly.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 09:55 (twenty-one years ago)

"You have to remember that as an employee, you don't have total free speech anymore," he said.

We really are going back to the 18th century, aren't we?

I thought it was more because the uniformed picture identified the airline in the blog.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely she can do them on their whistleblowing policy.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Of the 10 or so images on the site, only one showed Ms Simonetti's flight "wings".

So apparaently, there's a much racier picture that we didn't get to see.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The airline's name was changed to Anonymous Airline and the city in which she was based was called Quirksville.

motown modown (Jody Beth Rosen), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:00 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't quite see how it's whistleblowing ptee...

(i fear i am missing some sort of v obv pun here)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

How did they come across this information? Because I don't think flight attendants can work on their blog in the office, so she might have a good case. Although posting the picture was stupid, it's how they came across the info that might be pertinent.

ILxor, Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Completely tangential to the matter in question but the blog itself is pretty terrible.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Seems a reasonable enough blog.

Still it doesn't talk about grime or hott R&B or Annie from Norway so I can understand why other people might consider it "pretty terrible."

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 27 October 2004 11:31 (twenty-one years ago)

So I made sure to check if her photobucket account was protected or not.

And ... yeah, it was.

So much for digging up racy pictures thanks to her stupidity. What else have we got?
