The imperial attire of the self-confident man in his smoldering maturity, or last train to Lamesville?

Photo documentation of examples and counter-examples encouraged.

Classic.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Pajamas as a last minute Halloween costume: classic

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't the correct spelling "pyjamas?"

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that 'The Awful Truth', Nicole?

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

"Pyjamas" is the British (and Canadian?) spelling. "Pajamas" is the correct spelling in the U.S.

Nemo (JND), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously?

Anyway, classic if they're silk.

Someone buy me silk pajamas pls.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Pyjamas are very sexy, on both men and women.

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

pajamas at work when it's hallowe'en: classic
pajamas at work because you forgot: classicker
pajamas at work because FUCK YOU I DO WHAT I WANT: classickest

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I have silk pyjamas.

adam... (nordicskilla), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Classic. Very classy on men, very "It Happened One Night"

Orbit (Orbit), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

pajamas at work because work is home: I don't know classic this is, but I would love to find out.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, utterly classic classic classic. My perfect man wears a suit 'til bed and then he wears flannel pajamas. Every day, day in day out, the end, until he goes in the ground (and then it's the suit again, obv.)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

(although pajamas in a casket might be somewhat classic too)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

CUH-LASSIC!

The TAO that can be Posted is not the TAO! (The Tao that can be Posted is), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Flannel pajamas or cotton. Strangely, I'm not overly fond of the feel of silk against my skin.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Silk pajamas scream "I drink Zima."

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

and/or "I own a shiny blazer."

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

However, this is obviously worse:

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

We also have this guy:

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Silk pajamas scream "I drink Zima."

Couldn't they also scream "I have an ironic sense humor but I am also somewhat of a pimp?"

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I like pyjama bottoms on a guy but pyjama top and bottom just remind me too much of my grandpa.

papa november (papa november), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

If your pyjamas are screaming, you've already made a mistake.

Michael White (Hereward), Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Only acceptable if they are red and worn by starring characters in movies about the true meaning of Christmas

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Thursday, 28 October 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

If your pyjamas are screaming, you've already made a mistake.

Not necessarily. For example they could be screaming "I am Bill Cosby" in a similar fashion to the way, say, a yellow cardie could scream "I am Carlton Banks." Both = instant and indisputable classic, OBV.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 29 October 2004 00:26 (twenty-one years ago)

am i the only person who finds pyjamas repulsive then?

Allyzay Science Explosion (allyzay), Friday, 29 October 2004 00:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I can wear a Halloween costume to work tomorrow: should I wear pajamas?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 29 October 2004 00:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Pyjamas are terrible, there's really no excuse. For regular sleepwear, sweats, shorts, t-shirts, tanktops, boxers, nude are all acceptable to varying degrees.

Ironically, one of my top ten songs ever is "Pyjamarama".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 29 October 2004 00:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, they're ok outside of sleeping. I.e. something to throw on once out of bed, but all that extra no-where-near-fitted material is so annoying when actually trying to sleep.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 29 October 2004 00:53 (twenty-one years ago)

There's only one way to hang about the house if you're not dressed: Buck Naked.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 29 October 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Sleep naked, you pyjama people.

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 29 October 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

i've got about 15 pairs of pajamas, i only wear them for lounging not sleeping. i sleep in the nude of course. nothing like the early morning breeze blowing across your arse.

robster (robster), Friday, 29 October 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I wear boxers and if I'm drunk whatever t-shirt I wore that day. otherwise I put on a plain white t-shirt, of which I have several thousand.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 29 October 2004 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

No one says they have to SLEEP in them. Just WEAR THEM TO BED.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Pyjamas look good on Cary Grant, that's all I was saying. I don't think there are too many men who can pull this look off sucessfully though.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

pyjamas on anyone = last train to lamesville. pyjamas are teh lame.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

They're the cats pyjamas.

Tag (Tag), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

pyjamas have to be conservative. ones printed with rocket ships or the like would be terrible.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I sleep nekkid.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:54 (twenty-one years ago)

atcually, i'd wear them if they had kits on. or cloud dogs.
ok, u-turn. plain/dull pyjamas are teh laem. pyjamas with pictures on rule. as long as they're pictures i like.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:57 (twenty-one years ago)

not even cary grant could carry off pyjamas with cloud dogs.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:58 (twenty-one years ago)

he could if he had bed-head hair.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I quite like chaps in jimjams. Just pyjama bottoms is rowr. Not silk though, please. We are not Hugh Hefner.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

What about dressing gowns?
http://www.trashcity.org/BLITZ/BLIT1069A.JPG

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Heff couldn't pull off the cloud dog look.

MY EYES

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I find them a complete turn-off. They should only be worn in hospital because they're marginally better than a gown with your bum sticking out.

Penelope_111 (Penelope_111), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

unless you've got cloud dogs tattood on your bumbum.

g-kit (g-kit), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

C C C! I think pyjamas are lovely.

Cathy (Cathy), Friday, 29 October 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I sleep nakkid, in underwear...when it's warm in my flat in S.F., so that means about 30 to 40 days per year. Don't care how 'lame' I look in my jimjams the rest of the year.

big chaki (chaki), Friday, 29 October 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Playing gigs in pajamas...CLASSIC.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Calling them "perjamers"...classic KENTUCKY YEE HAW BWAH.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

There is nothing better than coming in from a hard day of crashing sleds and winging snowballs at little kids' exposed red frostbitten ears and playing God to families of snowmen to some warm just-out-the-dryer cotton PJs, hot cocoa, and a cozy fire (preferably in the fireplace).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

God, I would never sleep naked. Pyjamas are cool. I like buying shirts that look like pyjama tops.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

i always go to sleep in clothes and seem to wake up naked

big chaki (chaki), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

While this happens to me too, Chaki, it's the opposite I find startling. I'll go to sleep naked and the next thing I know I'm fully clothed on a bus going to work.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 29 October 2004 18:13 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

going to the corner store in your pajamas- C/D
