Hey, at least he's not sending you chain emails with crappy animated gifs. Which may be preferable to gop garbage, but you have to look on the bright side...

Block his address.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 29 October 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Send him a virus.

or is that bacterial?

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 29 October 2004 17:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Break off all contact even.

Actually one of my coworkers has done that with her brother but this was over the course of many years and wasn't (just) political -- they restrict themselves to formal acknowledgments around holidays and he always does her taxes for her, as he's good with accounting and promised that to her as a wedding present, and so far he's been as good as gold. But otherwise, even though they live five miles apart, their lives are essentially separate, and even their parents understand (and sympathize with her rather than him).

In my family political differences and arguments manifested themselves in good discussions over dinner when I was growing up but never turned into shouting matches or freezeouts or anything along these lines. And at present we're all voting for Kerry, so that's handy, but even if there was a division, we'd not let it escalate, much in the same way that there's a profound spiritual difference between my father and the rest of the family but there has been no consequent freezeout either way. So I think it's less the differences than the personalities behind him, which is understandable but unfortunate regardless.

And having said all that:

Happy birthday to Emilymv! :-)

Did I ever meet your brother? I don't remember. I seem to recall meeting some MarSaMily family member besides Don.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 29 October 2004 17:41 (twenty-one years ago)

this sounds like the bullshit my aunt from sacramento tries. I rarely communicate with her, but she feels inclined to send me gop-agit-prop bullshit all the time. whenever I get emails from her I just delete them.
