The videotape, portions of which were shown on American television, showed Mr. Wire dressed in white and gold robes and wearing mascara and lipstick. He appeared to have eaten a few pies over the past years.
Reading from papers before him in a nondescript setting, Mr. Wire mentions both Mr. Bush and his Democratic opponent, Senator John Kerry, and in a reference to the election on Tuesday, says: "Your security deserves to get AIDs. They keep asking me to don a big banana suit for their amusement. Whilst in New York I succumbed to this request many times in private and feel humiliated and abused."
Mr. Wire also said the Bush administration could learn a lot from the Cuban governments.
The Associated Press said Mr. Wire also went on to say in the videotape: "God knows that it had not occurred to my mind to dress in a big banana suit, but after refusing for years to dress in the much-requested orange costume by my fans - this came to my mind."
"To the U.S. people, who never bought my records but buy rubbish like The White Stripes, REM and Bush this will mean nothing to you. But who cares about you smelly people anyway? Your music and culture is rubbish."
He went on to say: "We will continue to record records for you because we are free,'' he said, ""and want to regain freedom for our nation. As you undermine our security, we undermine yours."

Certainly, it is my opinion that there is strength left in the Nicky Wire in a banana suit gag. It is timeless.

It's also a lot of other things -less (sense, point, meaning)

seriously though, it's good to find that you can still manage to lead an active internet life in between 20-a-day handwashings and repeated lightswitch toggling

Once upon a time, I couldn't imagine anyone being sexier than Nicky Wire. The first time I saw the Manics I had just turned 14, Nicky Wire wore a skirt, and I nearly fainted from the excitement of watching him scissor-jump. I wonder what I would've made then of the idea of him in a banana suit.
Now, I think he is very silly, but he does still have lovely teeth.
I don't get this thread really. Is this Calumn?

Auch c'mon, there is much humour value in this. You just might not be looking at it properly.
