I had forgotten that it even was Thanksgiving. How easily 15 years of culture washes off you. (not!)

kate, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Happy Thanksgiving to all except turkeys and chickuns! there was another piccie of Dubya in the paper today, eating a turkey with the caption "Dubya's revenge for getting his bollocks pecked" or something. curse him.

katie, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was a month ago you silly yanks.

anthony, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Waaaah I can't eat pumpkin pie on Saturday because I'm going to see Low! But I love pumpking pie! That IS thanksgiving, right? How do you grow your own pumpkins? Then again we have just managed to get rid off ours so I really should not be thinking about getting any more.

Sarah, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes precisely Sarah no more pumpkins for you until you learn proper care of them, unless you want more stories of rot to tell in the pub. Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans who won't be reading this because you're with your families thanking each other!

Tom, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Speaking of which, I didn't know that COKE could go mouldy if you left it out in a plastic cup for long enough. Gross!!

Sarah, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sarah is to hygiene what I am to molecular biology.

well, here i am at the homestead, and my mother has bought a turkey too large to fit in our refridgerator, so it's intead sitting in a tub fulla ice in the basement. a quiet holiday this year, comprising only the people who live or have lived in this house and for that i am very THANKFUL.

jess, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anthony, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

james, Thursday, 22 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

*burp* 'Twas lovely, specifically for the GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL SUNSET at my friend Karen's parents' place on a cliff on the coast of San Pedro looking out towards Santa Catalina. The clouds, the colors, the image of a way, way WAY distant jet airliner's contrails stretching out like a red slash on the dome of the sky -- the best sunset I have seen since seeing that there day ball go down behind Vancouver Island while standing on the west shore of the main island in the San Juan chain back in 1994. For being able to see that -- and for having a friend like Karen -- I am astoundingly, happily thankful. :-)

To: ILX
Subject: Memogiving Weekend observances
From: Aimless
Date: May 24, 2008

As we all know, Memogiving Weekend is upon us and it seems appropriate to take a moment and outline the official ILX policy on observing this occasion.

First, it is important that all ILX-related observances be approved by the appropriate administrator. Proposals for festivities in your department should be accompanied by a budget request, an estimate of the time it will take ILXors away from their other duties, and a copy of the guest list. It is acceptable to post this as a memo to a secret board, but only if the guest list is googleproofed, as an unecessary precaution against any unsecret ILXors learning anything whatsoever.

A few more reminders:

- Fireworks must be requisitioned from Ned and can only be lit by a moderator standing at least ten paces from any flammable posters.

- Drinking is OK. Crack cocaine must be surrendered at the door to Tombot and will be returned upon leaving.

- Bitching must be other-directed. We suggest George Bush.

Have a safe and happy Memogiving Weekend everyone! Reports must be turned in to Accounting along with any receipts for which you seek reimbursement, no later than noon on May 27.
