we all get to leave at 1:00 except the overachiever I work with has decided she's going to stay until five to finish everything, and since I'm the lead on this project, I have to stay too, to oversee handoff to people WHO ALREADY FUCKING LEFT. I have been unsuccessful in my reasoning with her on this point though.

yes, to answer the above question: I'm not her manager, just the lead on the project; she is a control freak (for instance, we bought five days extra time on this project, but she's leaving before then; she FREAKED OUT, "i'm not going to be here then!" My telling her "well that doesn't matter, you aren't the only person who works on this stuff" didn't matter, she still plans to work on all of it for the next four days at home.

Pretty much everyone has already left for the day now.

This fucking sucks. My boss has nothing substantial for me to do, so keeps inventing fantastic boondoggles. He actually asked me this morning to start pasting up the new issue of the magazine. First of all, we don't have all the content for the new issue, so that's not possible. But more importantly, PASTE UP??? This magazine hasn't been pasted up for 10 years. I think he may actually be losing his mind. Another great thing he keeps doing: calling me into his office, making me takes notes about something, then losing his train of thought, trailing off, picking up the phone and calling someone as if I wasn't even in the room. It's really weird. Do I stay? Leave? Call an ambulance? He could be having a seizure, for all I know.
