mark s, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I prefer Blue! there song was better!

james, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Surely by now they're too busy having cocaine orgies with each other to actually release anything?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

better as in knocked off the top slot after JUST ONE WEEK haha Blue = suXoR obv

mark s, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So I guess now we can't say Mark S. Never Had A Dream Come True...

Nicole, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Much as I liked their previous single and think they are all v. lovely, deep in my heart of hearts I do not think they are really v. 'good'. Because: not all of their recs are so hot, they don't seem 'new' and 'genre-defining' like the Spice Girls, and their personalities are all a bit blah. But I have not seen much of their tv series, which may help me to connect all the dots.

They are obv. a million times better than U2, Ash, Travis, Muse, Stereophonics and most of their other chart 'competitors'.

Andrew L, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i want to have the blondes baby. I CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

jess, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

dj ötzi has a cracking follow-up also

mark s, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tina = Roxor!

james, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tina - does she have black hair? If so then HELL YES!

Kodanshi, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm defo a huge S Club fan but this song SUCKS, no?

(Tina=Michael Jackson - I'm scared)

Don't Stop Movin' is prolly in top 3 for best single of 2001 but HEY S Club, enough BALLADS already!

(Paul=Toadie from Neighbours - I'm scared)

Hollywood 7 is their best series yet!

(Jon=Indie Neil Hannon - I'm scared)

jamesmichaelward, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

YWEAH! 'Don't Stop Movin'' = in the top 2 singles of the year. No question.

DavidM, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If S Club 7 are gods, than the term "god" does not mean "omnipotent being" as I thought it did and must mean something more like "terrifyingly annoying waste of space that should be smacked in the face repeatedly with an old mackarel".

Dan Perry, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

howdy dan how's things?

they are #1 = they are godZoR (does not apply: Blue)

mark s, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Things are looking up: I have a job interview on Monday and a fairly steady source of contract work from a friend of a friend. ROCK.

To qualify as a godZoR, do you have to debut at #1 or can you simply reach #1? (As an aside, "#1" by Nelly is currently at #23. This amuses me greatly.)

Dan Perry, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Very cool Dan! Good luck!

I gotta say, though they may be godZoR, the S Club 7 dolls are garbage. They're uglier than the N'Sync and Spice Girls dolls put together.

Basically what I'm saying is I am willing to talk about all things S Club 7 as an avoidance tactic to finishing this dull and boring research paper.

Nicole, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'd like to like S Club 7, but I don't think I have it in me to. When I listen to them, I can't help feeling that I'm going too far, crossing a line I shouldn't be crossing, so I turn it off. I already like Kylie, what would it mean if I liked S Club 7? I'm not some aficionado of over-hookey Nutrasweet gay disco insta-nostalgia, really I'm not. I'm not gay. I don't like Nutrasweet. Let's be serious: a guy like me can't listen to S Club 7.

Otis Wheeler, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Over-hookey Nutrasweet gay disco insta-nostalgia"

Yes! I finally have an answer to the question "What sort of music do you like?"

jamesmichaelward, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ok, so they are kinda cute and harmless. I'm sorry but the show is still really bad. I mean, it's like saved by the Bell minus Screech and the soft core porn star.

Wait, am I making that sound like a good thing?

Kim, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What would sound good is Screech becoming a soft core porn star, because the movies would have to be hella funny and disturbing.

Nicole, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thanks in advance for the nightmare I'll be having tonight Nicole! Wow.

Kim, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Aw, it would be no worse than this soft porn movie I saw on HBO starring this Neil Hannon lookalike.

Nicole, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i had always wanted young paul to come and sit upon my knee, but then he grew that godawful moustache! has he got rid of it yet?

di, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Getting back to Dan, a better subject of discussion -- well done, sir. :-) Go forth and succeed.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

how can dan be better than s club 7? unless he's going to come to my bedroom on sunday mornings and dance around in a tube top and capri pants that is.

jess, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He would at that. Can I join him for a double team?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i'm really quite afraid to say yes, but this is something i don't want to pass up either.

jess, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jess, give me your address and $25K and I'm there.

Dan Perry, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Same amount for me, please.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh yeah, Dan, drop me a mail, I need to check with you about something.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 25 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Blue ARE rubbidge aren't they, however there is a cute one who wears a cardigan, I have now designated him INDIE-BLUE and I like him. The rest are crap. NB I did the same thing for Westlife (Mark Westlife is the rocker NOT rockist there) and it much helped my listening experience. That Westlife rock song is BRILLIANT, btw. But why oh why oh why do they always play the ballad oh why?

Sarah, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Paul: This fishing trip is fun.

Hannah: It is. Shame we forgot the rods. Oh look, a very large fish. What to do?

Paul: Hannah, spear it.

EATSHITANDDIE

Funky Obstetrician, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

katie vs SClub7 - FITE! and i'll win hands down. they make me so fucking angry, sheer rage will enable me to POUND them in the first round. grrrrrrrrrrrr! take that, smarmy rachel and dopey tina and nonentity whoever the other girl is who isn't Jo, and you silly dopesmoking boys who wouldn't recognise a good tune if it camped outside your house underneath a neon sign flashing "I AM A GOOD TUNE"

katie, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like them but their singles underachieve. Not heard the new one. Blue's "All Rise" was good but their ones since haven't been.

(Blimey you can see why I have a most thought-provoking poster nomination eh. Unwell groan.)

Tom, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Don't Stop Movin'' is grate

dave q, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

S Club 7 boring no subtext probably vote Tory just like Steps and Boyzone can't get worked up about them one way or other but like hidden track on forthcoming album "Revelation of the Absolute (Prequel)" a 28-minute Nurse With Wound meets Globe Unity Orchestra free-form freakout with Jo's unearthly atonal shrieks blending compatibly with those of special guests Peter Brotzmann, bass sax & tarogato, Keiji Haino, electrocuted banjo, Han Bennink, sopranino bullroarer, Charles Gayle, baritone pennywhistle, and Merzbow, erm, on Merzbow. You wait 'til you hear it!

S Club 7 are boring person, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Saw them live on CD:UK, and wasn't too impressed. The Sugababes were better, but they aren't bad sometimes. But then, there's Rachel with her breasts! Hello Rachel! We wuv woo!

Ally C, Monday, 26 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bad pop stars.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 27 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Amazonstyle writing for catharsis... I love Sunshine. My favourites are Show Me Your Colours, with the slinky Rachel vocal, You with cool dooby flutes and Good Times, which includes the words *vacation pamphlet* in an almost Manics-esque moment of too-many-consonants. I'm sure it's Bradley singing. The weak tracks are Tina's Stronger, where they've over-processed her nervous vocal to make it clubby and hide the weaknesses instead of just letting her get into it, and Boy Like You, which I think is Hannah, because of the cheesy chorus line, where she claims to be a bit crazy. But I'm really enjoying it, to the extent that it's one of my 10 favourite albums of the year.

chris, Tuesday, 27 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Another reason to love S Club 7 is that they have obviously been reading murakami as track 8 on their new album is entitled Dance, dance, dance. Now, if only they starred in a remake of The Three Amigos they would undoubtedly be THE perfect band.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Johnnie, perhaps they've just been listening to Joy Division.

Nick, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hope Paul and Hannah's love doesn't tear S Club apart. (I'm so sorry).
