I love this magazine. About only one shop in my town sells it. Even my local WHSmith has stopped stocking it (they have plenty of copies of UFO magazine, hmmmppphhh!) It's an outrage really...

Any favourite stories? (the Pokemon mass hysteria story was great) Or do you think it's a load of rubbish (the idea of strange phenomena in general?)

The latest issue has an article on hollow earth theroies, off to read that now...

The moon is a ufo. It is hollow inside and the littler ufos go in there to live. The earth is also hollow. You can tell by the pictures they took from space. There's always a hole at the top of the earth. The ufos go in there, too. It's a fact or something I heard from this guy... Actually, Paul Leary of the butthole surfers actually believes the part about the moon. He saw one when he was taking a piss in Texas and started reading up on them. This is the conclusion he's come to from his reads. He said he wasn't on anything at the time, just takin' a leak, and doesn't have a lot of problems with vivid, life-like hallucinations, though one would certainly expect him to be a little fucked in the noggin from all his LSD use.

i love it: have read every issue since it was a little quarterly pamphlet — it's funny, obviously, but it's also a kind of dream guide to the political unconscious (one of its editors, sieveking, is a "former" situationist, translated I think Basic Banalities…)

I saw aliens on the way bax0r from an eat static concert (this = true!!!!) BTW, I was monitor-man, and didn't pay to see thee statick. BTW This is V.mean as I talked to the dreadlocked one and he was about as pleasant a fellow as I ever met on the PA game (drone drone d*d*d*d*r*r*r*o*o*o*o*n*n*n*e*e*e*e*)

I liked it in my credulous phase at the age of 14-15. I fear that I may have drifted too far in the other direction now and follow the reductionist argument blindly.

I saw an Eric von Daniken book in a charity sale I was organising over the weekend, and it brought back a lot of memories.

I used to work alongside the Fortean Times people and they = v. nice and (surprise!) v. eccentric. The mag had a brief boom period at the height of 'X-Files' mania, but has since reverted back to its core (and extremely devoted) audience, which means it neither loses or makes very much money. John Brown Publishing did little in the way of promotion etc. for FT in recent years, but they did let Bob and Paul retain total control over editorial content = a reasonably fair trade- off. New owners IFG have also promised that they won't fuck w/the FT formula, while simultaneously trying to 're-position' it alongside The Spectator(!) as a 'respected' source of info...so we shall see...
