I can only assume I must be the only Monkey lover here!

Trevor, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wuv Monkey however I also wuv Toy Story 2 and am not flocking to go see Toy Story 2 On Ice!

Tom, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think Jonnie 5 may have tickets for this, he told me he was going.

chris, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, but Toy Story only has two episodes whereas Monkey has 39, although if Monkey was on ice I expect that Tripitaka and Co. would have gotten to India a lot quicker.

Trevor, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

At the risk of sounding like a revolting pedant, it's hard to flock when there's only one of you.

Trevor, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Curses.

Monkey - enormously cherished childhood prog but a bit disappointing when I saw it again.

Tom, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I might be going. And until people start to get my frikkin' message I am the only member of my flock.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Interesting, as someone who is often disillusioned when I revisit favourite programmes of my childhood, I found that I enjoyed Monkey even more the second time round, especially in relation to Pigsy's constant smut and innuendo, and the (quasi) Buddhist philosophy.

Trevor, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jonnie - me and my mate Neil are going to drum up more monkey recruits tonight amongst our friends, with the intention of having a massive monkey gathering later on this year. You're more than welcome to join us, it'll save going on your own.

Top Monkey fact = the man who played Monkey, Masaaki Masai, was frontman in popular Japanese garage beat combo "The Spiders".

Cheers Trevor but a friend is supposedly on the ticket booking case. Then again the friend in question is the laziest person in the world (fact) . A word of warning though, it does seem to be very popular and I think there are no tickets for Saturday performances left so best to get on the flying cloud pronto.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 28 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Jonnie, you'll never get to go if Disco Dave the sloth is booking it! He requires a week's notice to get out of bed.

chris, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Me and my pal Neil have booked up for the evening showing on Saturday 22 December - great thing about the Young Vic is that there's no specific seat allocation, so you can just turn up and sit where you like. I cannae wait!!

Trevor, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I had a dream last week that monkey from the ITV adverts was trying to steal condoms from me at gunpoint. Is there something wrong with me?

Ally C, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sounds like a job for Monkey Magic to me. He could ensure the return of a fair maid's french ticklers quicker than you can say "Tripitaka". He knows every magic under the sun.
