Hey yall! Just stopping by to say that you may need to find somewheres else. Several Lusenet Forums are abandoning ship. And Anarchy was basicly wiped out! Might want to start looking for a backup.

very mysterious! there's no message on Greenspun's site about any problems. maybe someone guessing passwords and then deleting all the messages?

I check the board script, and some guy named: YOUAREALLSICKBASTARDS Went and caused everything below his post to vanish, due to some loopholes in Greenspuns security. I know how he did it, and what he used for the script, but I am wary as to what to do next. Do we want it fixed? Or do we want to go to a new place?" ..

email what you know about it to [email protected], and they should be able to fix it. if it's a password security issue (i.e. guessing passwords) then the moderators should make sure that the important password(s) appear to be random letters and numbers. a word in h4X0r style is not good enough either

re: a new place - where else is there that is as simple and user-friendly as LUSENET? Phil Greenspun really knows how to make things fast and usable. one can post HTML, needs to remember no logins/passwords, can bookmark or link to particular threads etc. I've never seen another message board or forum that is as good as LUSENET

DG we should change the password I think - email me with it if you agree! (BTW thanks for the e-mail - as the awful fate of freakytrigger.com attests I am not best placed to advise on web hosting though, might want to throw the qn open!)

The issue on Anarchy seems to be someone with a grudge arsing about with javascript. Simple to deal with but a pain in the bum.

Weve got it fixed now. A pain wth no moderater. Just thought you all should be prepaired. And it IS someone with a grudge. Lusenet is the best. But it needs a bit more security. DG, check often. Yall post too much for them to interupt. Be careful, yall!
