I am having a wee problem with my digital camera.

I have installed the software as instructed, connected the camera at the point in the installation when I am supposed to and......

The image display software is supposed to crank up at this point and show what is on the camera. It doesn't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, to no avail. When I bail out of the installation process and then connect the camera later on I get a 'USB device not recognised' error coming from the system tray. This message also says that the device has malfunctioned. Any advice?

What OS? I found it impossible to get my Kodak camera SW drivers to work in Windows2000, but they were fine in 98 and in XP.

XP. I think it's fairly old as it was given to me by my brother cos he just got a new one.

Could be an old/dodgy driver, are you able to view the pix on the camera itself? Try looking for updated drivers for that model on the web would be the first thing.. I dont know what else to suggest :/

i have XP, when i connect my camera to the computer it comes up as a "device with movable storage" on the 'my computer' screen, and given the drive name E: - clicking on the icon i can access all the contents of the camera that way. have you looked there yet?

Do not piss on your camera.

It doesn't even get to the stage of being recognised as another drive. So it doesn't make it to the my computer screen. I keep getting that 'USB device not recognised' error when I connect it and turn it on.

go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers.

I trudged past a guy last night who was digging in a foot-deep snow bank looking for digital camera. I felt so bad for him.
