Can we celebrate Steve Jobs's hubris turning 20 as well?

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to go to the Apple store with a beer bong and pour it straight into some "super drives"!

Astonishing!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

(obviously because Macs are of age)

I think I may have teared up a little for a moment. ::sniff::

Macs rule. Sorry, rest of you guys. :D

It's the Vangelis that got to you, wasn't it?

What gets me is how totally *decent* the original Mac system fonts were.

That and the fact that the original Mac was my first real computer. Ok, you're right.

Finally, after 21 years, the macintosh has gained as much ground on the competition as it had when it was first released.

cf Steve Ballmer flogging Windows 1.0 like Mattress Mack

Is it daft that it brough a tear to my eye, I forgot how ground breaking a Mac was back then. When we got our SE (courtesy of my Dads all Apple accountancy firm (you don't hear that any more) my experience of computers had been Acorns, BBC micros and a Compaq Luggable, The Mac was a computer that could talk, write beautifully, even on an image writer, didb't have to load from tape, and was a dream to use.

I', so glad steve job's jaw line has been bearded and the floppy hair has gone.

And the fact that the paint package on those '84s is still better than MSPAINT.EXE

Johnney B (Johnney B), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

i might be getting my first one in a week or so

m. (mitchlnw), Tuesday, 25 January 2005 08:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Ascii art is usually better than MSPAINT.EXE though.

Ed, your parentheses are unbalanced. It's upsetting me.
