Those Peanuts sculptures look awful!

The scultpture of Mary Richards throwing her hat up in the air in Minneapolis hasn't actually been made yet, has it?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 07:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, yes it has:

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 07:02 (twenty-one years ago)

what's wrong with the peanuts statues? they look like the comics, except 3d.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 07:06 (twenty-one years ago)

They look huge and scary! And the proportion looks all wrong. The problem with Peanuts statues is that, as Schulz pointed out on a few occasions, the characters aren't 3D, they only exist in a few different angles, and they don't "work" in other perspectives.

I don't know, I'm only going by that one picture, which looks like overgrown, bloated and puffy version of the characters, like the dinosaurs that you put in water to make them grow to many times their size, but allowed to grow for far too long.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 26 January 2005 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

How are ducks fictional characters?

Anyway, I present the purse, from the "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear": Melbourne.

Tracer I've been staring at that statue every day for a year and a half and I still don't think I've wrapped my head around what's going on. Every time I see it there's something new: hey look, down in the corner there's a ... a beetle head? Eating a flame? What the hell?

Newcomers will get their first noticing-shock from the crab-claw clutching the severed head (bottom right).

ihttp://www.scotlandtourguide.co.uk/Tourguide/images/Wallace%20monument%20-%20Freedom%20statue.jpg

I know Wallace isn't fictional but the statue is rather obviously based on the Hollywood version.
