Matos turns 30 in New York

What it says. My 30th birthday is on Friday, February 18, and I'll be in New York for it. That evening, I'm planning to go to the Magician (118 Rivington St., on Essex) at 8 p.m. If you know me and are friends with me, you should join me. I'll likely be there all night and hopefully so will you.

The early-ish start time is to guarantee there's room for people in the bar's back room, which has gotten more popular than it was when I first began going there, back when I actually lived in New York. Sigh. But show up early if you can, though if you show up later that's fine too. See you there/then!

The last time I remember having a big FAP at the Magician, me and Yancey almost got into a fight with who? People from Boston. I can't remember their affiliation. It was about the Strokes and whether me and Yancey look like them, or whether they look like us. Y and I took the latter position, and these Bostonians took the former. It was strangely tense, rather than funny. Although perhaps it was that too. In any case I walked away and let Yancey take the heat. What I'm working around to is, Yancey, if you show up, I got your back this time I swear.

Fun night of drinking & stuff = nice! Arriving at Grand Central Station after a fun night of drinking & type-stuff just as the last trains home are pulling out of the station = weak. Having cabbie nearly drive me to Harlem while trying to return to the bar from which I came = super weak. Having a chance to have blueberry blintzes w/ Matos & Maura & Jess & ANTHONY & other peeps while patiently waiting for Grand Central to re-open = nice!
