There's probably a lever underneath the storage shelf below the steering wheel area or below the glove compartment. It might be low down or far back, so persist.

(also, "hood"? I thought you were British?)

the manual is somewhere unknown to mankind and so is this bloody lever.

Yes, right hand side of the footwell, just to the right of the accelerator

(it baffled me for a while the first time I had to find it on mine)

Pull the lever in the footwell, then lift the bonnet slightly, feel for a catch under the bonnet (most likely somewhere near the middle), this will release the bonnet fully.

BONNET i knew that was the word.

so i had to fork out £54 for a new battery. IT had leaked and corroded stuff too. Its definately karma.
