Not surprising at all. I've been wondering about something like this since 9/11, frankly, and while I'm deeply disappointed it's taken this long for the policy wonks to finally put two and two together, some sign is better than none.

Gaffney told a conference in Washington that America has become dependent on oil that is imported from countries that, "by and large, are hostile to us." This fact, he said, makes reducing oil imports "a national security imperative."

Things are not looking good for Alaska, I guess.
