What are those black things under seals eyes?

There has been something bothering me lately. What are those black things under seals eyes -- could they be hairs?

I totally thought this was about the animals and somehow adjusted my mental image of seals in general to accomodate panda-esque black eye rings that are thickest underneath. Weird.

An ex-boyfriend who used to tell me wild stories because I was gullible enough to believe them told me that Seal was attacked by a seal, giving him the scars on his face. And that's why he changed his name to Seal. This man also told me that all men have dormant mammory glands and that Charlie Pride (the black country singer) was Hank Williams Jr.'s brother (the white country singer).
