My disgusting little secret is out. OK, go ahead and say they;re dud and disgusting and "ooo the cheese looks like snot" and "oh it stinks when the person next to you..." GRRR.

CINEMA NACHOS SO COMPLETELY RULE YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND.

No what i want from all you nice sane cinema-nachos-are-classic types is a survey of which cinemas do the best. My personal faves are the Warner Brothers nachos. a) Good value b)tasty cheese c)generous salse d) you don't need a ticket!!! many a time i go to the london leicester square warner bros cinema for just this.

don't get me started on the poor quality of ODEON nachos. (and other new answers)

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Num num. Not out of the cinema though.

Tom, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you go to a movie theater just to buy the snacks?!?

Samantha, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

well, er, it's been known. ok, yes. lots. just nachos though. you just can't get the quality of cheese-goo anywhere else.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

alan is of course SO RIGHT.

that cheez goo is good on anything. soft pretzle bites and cheez goo = NUM NUM GOOD.

jess, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i should note that jess-on-diet + copious-junkfood-threads = open weeping.

plastic-like radioactive nacho cheese may be had at any major sporting event in the States, often served in novelty helmets or other gewgaws. I like the chips you get with it because of overkill salt dousing.

cutural zenith of medium-sized mark's life = seeing level 42 live at wembley stadium and sampling WEMBLEY's nachos and "cheese"

mark s, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

in bethesda, MD, there is a second-run movie theatre that serves absolutely amazing nachos. they also have seatside service!

doesn't the alamo draft house have them too?

stinkerrrbean: they are sooooo good. i'll send you some.
stinkerrrbean: but really, this is *important*- do you eat still frozen peas, just the regular sweet little grren kind, in a bag, from the grocer?
stinkerrrbean: (they're really one of the best things ever. in the whole world. ever ever.)
Dubplatestyle: (that's nothin...my sister eats mustard on ellios frozen pizza.)
stinkerrrbean: eeeeeeewwwwwwwww.
Dubplatestyle: and i eat cheez dip on eeeeeeeeeeeevvvvrything
stinkerrrbean: but cheez dip is made for eeeeeeverything.
Dubplatestyle: cheez dip even for waffles?!
stinkerrrbean: uhm.....no go on the waffle front.
Dubplatestyle: (cheez sauce with leftover waffle of the person sitting next to you = BRILLIANT in diner drunk off your ass at 2 am.)

nachos are boring but cinema popcorn is beautiful.

Maria, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

re: Alamo Draft House in Austin. Not sure about nachos but their popcorn is great (real butter). We definitly need more theaters that serve you food and beer at your seat.

Samantha, Thursday, 29 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Never tried nachos but popcorn (with butter) is tasty. Very tasty. I had a big ole bag of'em the last time.

Mmmm, deep fried cheese curds from the Mall Of America, dipped in ketchup.

Food in cinemas (unless its the specially design Pete's Bar / CInema under Waterloo Bridge - come on BFI pull yer finger out) is a no no. Why is all cinema food noisy and olifactorily disgusting?

Pete, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cinema nachos are only rubbish because you get so few of them.

DG, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I used to like popcorn at the cinema (salty not sweet which is an aberration) but since the only person I ever go with is Pete I am not allowed it. Poor me.

Emma, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

do the sweet/salt mix thing!

one year passes...

id really like people to actually be banned from eating anything noisy in the cinema. nothing that crunches basically. or nothing that would = wrapper rustling.
so only drinking would be allowed really.

slurp slurp

Speaking of things that stink up a theater, my favorite multiplex has recently started selling fried chicken. You can't even smell the popcorn anymore. It's fucking depressing.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Monday, 8 March 2010 11:10 (sixteen years ago)

thats awful (though if i was hungry....) and wouldnt that be really horribly messy? cant stand noisy people in the cinema.

they should have security guards in cinemas to electrocute people if they make too much noise.

and just not serve food unless its ice cream.

titchy (titchyschneiderMk2), Monday, 8 March 2010 11:15 (sixteen years ago)

Our local indie cinema has been selling mulled wine over the winter. Smelly but amazing.

NotEnough, Monday, 8 March 2010 13:42 (sixteen years ago)

when nyc started requiring movie theaters to post the calorie counts on all their food, i sort of stunned by the nachos. not that i expected them to be good for me, but nachos + a coke puts you somewhere over 1,500 calories. yipes.

the archetypal ghetto hustler (history mayne), Monday, 8 March 2010 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

been trying to. but i saw the crazies at the weekend and the stupid person in charge of the sound had the dialogue lower than everything else. so all i could hear was crunch crunch crunch rustle rustle rustle and then from the guy behind me burp burp burp. i had to move in the end.
