Imperials? Softmints? Tictacs? Some weird American mint I've never heard of? What freshens YOUR breath?

Mark C, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I long for a return to the days of yore.... Cinammon flavoured chewing gum... Big Red. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Trevor, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mmmmm, peppermint creams or glacier mints - i am a woman of simple tastes!

katie, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The great "AFTER CURRY MINT" from West End Tandoori (?) was my fave nummy mint when I found one shoved in my bag whilst being OFF SICK yesterday because it was IN FACT! milky chocolate! Numnum. Airwaves are some type o' kick, even if they DO make me think of Airwalk trainers. There's this great Canadian super strong gum that Holly sent me but I can't remember what it's called, curses.

M&S blackcurrant gum is nice. Oh MINTS? After Eights.

Sarah, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bendick's. I'm quite classy you know.

chris, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

citrus trident or orange tic tacs

anthony, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cloves cos I am an ayurvedic hippy type. Ahem. In fact I freshen my breath with Marlboro lites. Has anyone else tried those fuzzy ball things you can get in public toilets to clean out your mouth? They are fucking horrible and to be avoided.

Emma, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm saving mine for when we run out of loo cleaner.

Altoids.

Samantha, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

After dinner mints (as a concept) date back only to the 1960s. Fact.

After Eights, though....CLASSIC! Speshly as you can remove them from the box and leave the wrappers behind without the people coming after you knowing, heh, heh, heh.

Does anyone remember the ads in magazines for After Eights with spoof OED defintions for doing the above, removing two After Eights from the box at once etc etc?

I really miss Pacers. Minty, but chewy as a Chewit. In attractive green and white striped wrappers, like miniature Celtic players.

MarkH, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Did you know that the resemblance to Celtic players was the very reason Pacers were withdrawn due to their use in sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. The Mars company (which made these minty versions of Opal Fruits) felt they had to distance themselves from their use as commonly thrown weapons of choice of Catholic Schoolkids at the RUC - and once an unexploded INLF bomb actually had its wires secured by some half masticated Pacers.

Pete is trying to take advantage of late Friday afternoon lethargy / booze thoughts to sneak in a cheeky fib.

Emma, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cinnamon Altoids are the bomb.

Ally, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tic Tacs, forget it. They're so small they've melted before they can do any good. How about those starlite mints, 'cuz they've got that spiral pattern that you can hypnotize people with.

Sean, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Starlite mints are classic. Our fave mexican restaurant gives them to us with our check. mmmm. Hank, can we go to Monterrey for lunch?

Samantha, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Okay, the Altoid thing -- over here in America they are in large part sold as this English thing that you characters over there have been loving for decades. True, false?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

False. Altoids in the UK are used to cure piles.

Mark C, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fuck mints, I chew strawberry flavored gum. It tastes great after a fruit tea.

helen fordsdale, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You lie Mark C! Here they are sold as sexual aid.

Samantha, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"fuck mints" - what non-smokers enjoy after sex?

Mark C, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have never heard of altoids but then I've never had piles or bought a sex aid.

Nick, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you are all lightweights: for there is the MEGGEZONE!!
"Like being hit on the head with a Swiss alp" — T.Slothrop.

It is not made up. My granma ate nothing else (when she wasn't sucking a Fisherman's Friend haHAA, actually she disliked FFs and was anyway too cool to be shoehorned into a lame Julian Clary gag).

mark s, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Last year we were going to a courthouse for our mock trial competition and one of the people on my team couldn't get through the metal detector. It kept buzzing even after he was sure he didn't have anything metal on him. We couldn't figure out why. Finally one of the guards said, "Do you have an orange tictac? They set off metal detectors." That's what it was.

Maria, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wait a minute, why *orange*?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

To quote the Hawd Gankstuh Rappuhs MCs Wid Gatz: "Orange Tic Tacs... the worz kind."

Cinnamon flavored HINT MINTS. Gelatin-free, strong, and curious.

Excel Polar Ice Gum. Woooo!

Kim, Friday, 30 November 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm a bif fan of Kentucky Mints, they are soft & dissolvey like the after dinner mints, but with a uniquely textured translucent green bit in the center. I have wanted these all week, instead I have been gnawing on licorice root. I am too far away from the grocery store & my road has drifted over.

Cinnamon flavored HINT MINTS.
One of the reasons I LOVED being in Hawaii: I could find my fave gum there, cinnamon gum. They even had big packages of it.

helen fordsdale, Monday, 3 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
