If so what's in it?

We only have a junk 'bowl' at the moment but last night round at a mates house we spent a good few hours just exploring her junk drawer and finding all manner of 'toys' and hilarious old photos.

I've got a big metal tin full of rubbish. Old photos, bus tickets, leaflets from tourist attractions (Flamingo Land when I was ten etc) my mums old tax discs(?) unused birthday cards which are handy and various roachable materials.

Several junk drawers, mostly full of stationery of some kind or other, pens and the like, plus the ill advised box of condoms I bought when I momentarily thought I'd have a sex life. Man, I can remember the days when I actually had a whole "bondage drawer".

Plus two boxes of junk. One for electronic junk, and one for paper-based junk - drawings and old magazine clippings and the like.

I have a junk drawrer but every so often I have a mad fit of 'de-cluttering' and throw all the junk out, so there's never much interesting in it.

in my old parents house we had a faulty junk drawer that you couldn't pull all the way out. There were hundreds of heavenly junk delights that were never seen again at the back of that drawer.

I acccepted my need for keeping junk the day that I exchanged my temporary, cardboard moving junk boxes for sturdy, plastic storing junk boxes. Hurrah for junk!

Every time I move in, I go through them. It's like this welcoming ritual where I rediscover lost treasures. Powerpuff Girls valentines from 2001. Backstage passes from 1998.

We have 'The Pile' in our house. Although recently we moved it to a box so it's now 'The Box'. During particularly chaotic months The Box breeds and 'The Carrier Bags' appear in the surrounding area...

A bunch of shit I don't want and wouldn't care if it disappeared .. but I hate to thow things in the trash, an no one else would want this crap .. but someone might, see.. I have categorized plastic junk boxes - organized junk is the new denial! It's po-mo feng shui, the office-supply-store solution to all your problems, etc, etc.

During Christmas holidays I stayed at my brother's house for a few days and discovered that he had *four* junk drawers, each holding about 500 pennies and a thousand kinds of junk. I categorized it. Some of it even went into giant ziploc bags (e.g., first aid, xacto knives (seriously), thread/string, etc). Later I feared low-grade autism. But no, it was kind of, er, satisfying, let's be honest. My desire to organize (no, not tidy, organize) is a Force!

Oh god, adaptors, they hide and they BREEEEED and none of them ever fit any kind of working appliance that you've had in about five years, and half of them are the wrong voltage. I should have a cull of adaptors and patch cords, but that would be too much work.

I haven't even mentioned the GUITAR JUNK BAG and the GUITAR JUNK BOX.

I've got a couple of them in my desk, they hold a variety of things from my little used checkbook (paying on the Internet = a treat) to old show tickets. Mostly it's old letters from my pre-net days mouldering.

Junk/everything drawers are total wormholes of convergence! I think I have a few people's fold-up scissors - where did they come from? And why/how 50,000 pencils of all sizes? And keyrings, keyrings, keyrings! = giving me a key-deficiency complex.

(the craziest thing about x-actos in junk drawers is that *they are sharp* - my brother once cut his finger horribly on one when blindly reaching into a junk drawer. The only lesson learned there was to close all x-actos before flinging into drawer, so that they may attract others and copulate and spawn.)

My junk drawer is my bedroom. There are plans to move all the junk into the spare bedroom (and turn it into an "office") so I can had a nice, attractive bedroom; but I don't think they're getting very far.

I have a couple of filing boxes for magazine clippings, old gig tickets, postcards from friends and so on.

I had this conversation with someone at work today - how come we have a big pile of spare powerbricks which are the wrong voltage for anything, and a big pile of spare network hubs with no bricks?

Man, I can remember the days when I actually had a whole "bondage drawer".

I did have one of these too. Since the last house move I haven't had a proper chest of drawers, so now it's a bunch of carrier bags under the bed.

my desk drawer has pretty much turned into a contraband drawer. a few assorted bits of marijuana and marijuana paraphenalia, most of it not even mine. somehow i thought "pipe-sitting" for my friends while they were in israel and london respectively would be a good idea, but it just makes me feel like more of a stoner than i am. plus whenever i go to get a pen out of my drawer the whole room stinks up to holy hell
