this was the thread relatin to their DEBUT SHOW:
betsey trotwood is my valentineFAP

"freeform honkytonk surf instrumentals!! except for that foray into gong-if-they-were-bavarian-nazis"

They were very good indeed and I would like to see them again. However, as I keep saying this morning (sigh, or at least typing because I cannot actually speak) my attendence at any events this week depends on the remission of the Extreme Death Flu.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I was supposed to go and see 'em tomorrow but general depression/fatigue will probably prevent me from doing so :-( The demo CDs Glyn played me on Saturday were very good indeed, and I've given him a couple of contacts to try and help them get a record out, or a session on Resonance or similar.

Actually I hope Doomie has a look at this thread because I think their sound would work very well on Poptones.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Their sound is like Papa M if they were the resident band at the end of Cromer Pier...faded grandeur, but curiously delicate.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 10:51 (twenty-one years ago)

this is tonight!! but i still don't know when they're on

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

(let me know, i might make this...)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:24 (twenty-one years ago)

no they're second of three bands julio

others = leonard and the lovegods, and the healing fields

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

They're due on at about nine o'clock.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:39 (twenty-one years ago)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

not quite "all"

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 18 March 2005 07:06 (twenty-one years ago)

in the end only julio came and i'm not sure tuner are his "thing" :(

mark s (mark s), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:41 (twenty-one years ago)

no I enjoyed it quite a lot...I don't get to hear surf-instrumentals (I need records) and I've never been to a band's second gig. sorry
I had to rush off home with a 'bye'.

I thought that the rapport between the keyboard player and guitarist reminded me of Letterman but the music wz better than that. I prob imagined this.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:51 (twenty-one years ago)

well a type of surf instrumentals (for the 21st century :-))

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Where can I hear some of their stuff?

LeCoq (LeCoq), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

not yet recorded lecoq!! ilx is in on the ground floor tuner-wise

mark s (mark s), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:29 (twenty-one years ago)

The guitarist used to be in Stump!

Apologies for not turning(/tuning?) up but yesterday was a particularly knackering day at work (half the dept away on holiday etc) and I couldn't face the long backwards trek into town :-(

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

T didn't make it either, marcello: also too tired

their set wz a wee bit curtailed by bein second on

(which guitarist, the tall one or the chunky one?) (haha oh you haven't seen em have you)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 18 March 2005 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Glyn played me the vid T did of their debut gig. I think the chunky one was the Stump one but it wasn't always easy to tell.
