Guitarists! Little help!

So the nut on my Fender Telecaster has come unfixed, and is now only held on by friction. Obviously I'd like this fixed. Several websites say that this can be fixed myself, with simple Elmer's wood glue. I don't want to fuck up my guitar. I also don't want to spend money if I don't have to.

Has anyome experience with self repair of this type v. throwing money at a problem to fix it?

i absolutely agree with orbit. do not put the fate of your instrument in the hands of the unskilled.
