My friend's architecture firm built something for this show and I'm thinking about going. Cute or compulsive? Folly or harmless frivolity?

Definitely compulsive. Probably relatively harmless though.

I dunno, does a cat have a refernce point for an old rustic cajun baitshop theme? So then it becomes a cat house for humans to enjoy, and therefore compulsive and weird and wrong.

Yeah, but it doesn't hurt the cat so it's still relatively harmless.

Some designs look ill-thought out for actual pet use but some seem kind of cool.

for humans to enjoy, and therefore compulsive and weird and wrong.

I think that's a little too categorical. No pun intended. If the cat doesn't mind that it's living in kitsch and it makes the owner happy, I see no real objection apart from asthetic. But then I'm not overly fond of Cajun food.

Yeah, maybe it's just disturbingly cutesy -- and arbitrary.

I mean putting little crazy outfits on pets that make them obviously uncomfortable, okay that's wrong. But just buying them some crazy house that they don't appreciate the irony/humor of at all, but doesn't really bother them is kind of whatever, ya know?

This one for example, looks stylish and functional.

That dog seems rather non-plussed by it.

if a dog could be nonplussed... (HAHA xpost)

Haha

Or non-plussed by the photographer.
