This is the thread where you fritter away the afternoon before your four-day weekend!

It's a four-day weekend from tomorrow! So noone at all can be bothered to do any work this afternoon! Hurrah!

(and I'm not in the office at all next week - I'm off down to London for a training course. Hurrah!)

(the training centre is located in the heart of the old St. Giles Rookery, for all you Ackroyd fans)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't the old St Giles rookery now ugly office and housing blocks, wide roads and general crappy New-Oxford-Street-ness?

Sorry to harsh your clit-on :)

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, yes. I'll be in the heart of the ugly-office-block district, dreaming of the area's past whilst I fall asleep from training-course-related boredom. In a week's time I'll be desperate to be back at work again.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

its 7:30am i have until 11am to fritter. then i go to physical therapy for my knee and elbow. good times!

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you Jesus for dying so we get four days off!

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

mmm fritters. anyone have a good recipe for banana pakora?

Blossom in Paris (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, they completely erradicated St.Giles Rookery when they drove New Oxford Street though, and now it's ghastly.

(Are you going to be FAPing while you are here Caitlin?)

This afternoon I am mainly trying to avoid having another Crunchie Easter Egg foisted upon me after the disaster that was yesterday. And wondering if I should go to Subway for lunch.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Banana pakora? that sounds awfully like a Scottish chip shop kind of dish

(I'm not sure if there'd be time for a FAP. Although the main reason I'm saying that, if I'm honest, is that I'd be scared of meeting those of you who I don't already know.)

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

::sniff::

I'm not scary. Well, not *that* scary!

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw, I'm sorry. I'm tempted to say "organise an FAP - but I don't think I'll be able to come", then turn up mysteriously incognito, in some sort of cunning disguise.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine's 5 with no annual leave used, just thought i'd boast.

work is for the weak.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

must get dressed. must collect car/bring records back to boss/buy records/get lunch.

but first.....must get dressed. must get dressed.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

dressing is for the weak

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

OH MY GOD RONAN IS POSTING IN THE NUDE!!!!!!

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

No! Go buy records NAKED!

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night A Boy asked for my phone number, and now I am talking to A Naked Boy on the interweb! Can my day *get* any better?

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, you could be talking to a naked boy in real life...

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

No I am wearing a t-shirt and boxers and a bathrobe.

Buying records naked would be wonderful if only society didn't frown on it.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Rats.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Having been brought up by naturist parents, I have to tell you that nakedness isn't actually *that* special.

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:57 (twenty-one years ago)

You could be a naked boy.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't there a FAP on Tuesday anyway for Melissa's visit?

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 24 March 2005 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh. Wasn't that last year? Wait, I'm confused.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

today is the first day of my 11 day weekend

Sven Bastard (blueski), Thursday, 24 March 2005 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't get ANY days off for easter, goddamnit!!

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

What four day weekend?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Not only is it the day before a FOUR DAY WEEKEND, but it is also PAYDAY!!!!! HURRAH!!!

Dammit, I meant to check my nice fat bank balance at lunch and forgot.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Pah payday is next week for me, still 5 days off is practically a sabbatical.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Three day weekend for me but the entire day will be a frittering away whilst waiting for my night flight. At least there's something to do at work -- and no, PLEASE do not ask me why I'm already at work at 6:20 in the morning, I have no idea myself.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

this is going to be a really good weekend. birthday tomorrow, gf home on saturday, djing with hystereo on sunday. can't really ask for much more than that!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

One of my friends was working at 2.30 this morning! His email was barely coherent!

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It's payday here too! Hurrah x 4!

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Those of us working for UCL (this may be only Starry and I) get a six-day weekend! I have started frittering it away already. Caitlin, I will be sorry if you are in town and don't FAP at all.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I am sad that Good Ms. Masonic has not quoted A Certain Mercury Rev Song on this thread yet, given a title phrase.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz and I have a 10 day weekend!

lock robster (robster), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Now i'm eating a hot cross bun and drinking tea.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Feh you lot, I have to work the entire weekend. :-(((((((((((

nathalie barefoot in the head (stevie nixed), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a 2 1/2 day weekend, WTF.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no! What Mercury Rev song should I be quoting? I'm drawing a blank.

(Or maybe my boss's Secret Machines CD is preventing me from thinking of any other music.)

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin, you're making me feel guilty now

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't feel guilty - I'd just like to meet you, but if you don't feel like it or don't have time, that's nothing to feel guilty about.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

What Steve said. 11 days off!

(NB this is a complete coincidence and nothing to do with shared brane or sordid sexual tryst or anything else)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeh right.

alix (alix), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to calais tomorrow to buy french things.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Berets and strings of onions?

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Liz and I have a 10 day weekend!

What Steve said. 11 days off!

Still mere mortals, y'all-we-all.
Compared to John Ono Lennon having, like, a SIX MONTHS weekend...

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm going to bring back a guy in a stripy top.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

make sure you dont get a burglar by accident.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

French men don't carry big bags labelled SWAG around with them, though

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

i'll look out for the tell-tale black eye mask.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I have just been given LEAVING PRESENTS. By which I mean the second series of Black Books, a copy of the Fortress of Solitude and a Glimmer Twins mix CD. Rah!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:33 (twenty-one years ago)

FAP please next week

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 24 March 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Only 38 minutes left before I can go home. Woo!

caitlin (caitlin), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

HEY guess what! i don't get a four day weekend! or three! or two and a half! shut the fuck up!

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:29 (twenty-one years ago)

why do YOU get tomorrow off? You're in the US! We have a separation of church and state! No religious holidays for us!

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't even know we had it off 'til yesterday but I'll do one of my bi-anuual instant and impermanent conversions and enjoy it anyway.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:47 (twenty-one years ago)

WHAT four day weekend???????

Great, Brave, True, Strong, Great, Real, Wise, Great...adam levine (nordicskilla, Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

we do not have such a thing. m. white is smoking crack.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I am so excited. This is going to be the first PAID BANK HOLIDAY I have had in ... FOUR YEARS!!!

Another great reason to be overjoyed to have got off the freelancer-go-round.

I used to hate Bank Holidays because they meant I missed a day's pay. No more!

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

no, he's just an old drunk!

xp

Great, Brave, True, Strong, Great, Real, Wise, Great...adam levine (nordicskilla, Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night A Boy asked for my phone number

which boy? WHICH BOY?

See, Friendsday *was* a good idea...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Like I'm telling *you*!

I am indeed glad I went. I have made a resolution to accept any and all invitations that it is within my power to attend, and Be More Sociable.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Was it my friend Katfish's mate? C'mon now!

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 24 March 2005 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Frittering? Feh, I've been slaving away all afternoon to finish stuff off before going over the sea to Skye. Goddamn meetings, I hates them, precious. But w00+ 10 day weekend, with added midges.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 24 March 2005 17:12 (twenty-one years ago)

It's not a national holiday, adam and kyle and never did I suggest otherwise. However, my place of employment has decided to give us, including this old crack-smokin' drunk, tomorrow off.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 24 March 2005 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not working but its a holiday here too - my bf was at work til 5am this morning the poor sod. And now we are both getting a cold. Just at the start of our holiday. And Bill Bailey tonight argh. Hope I dont feel too ill.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 25 March 2005 05:18 (twenty-one years ago)

The libraries shut on wednesday. Wednesday! Luckily, I will still be able to have a 0 day weekend due to the wonders of owned books and online papers. Fuck finals hardcore.
