my boss asked me to find out what the best type of graphic to import into word is. Vector vs Raster? Tif? Gif?

if i were to import a logo into a document, which would keep the file size the lowest while still retaining a good image quality. also this may be exported as a pdf.

i know the best thing would be for me to do the actual work, but a) i don't have the logo on me and b) just wanted to know if anyone had prior experience.

thanks.

if it's going to end up as a pdf, the image file size shouldn't matter, right?

For just word, I'd use a gif or jpg, depending on how much gradient there is (more blending means jpg will be better) . No need for any big resolution there. For pdf, I'd use a vectored tif.

If you're turning it into a pdf and you have the big version of acrobat, don't worry about the size of the word file and just do File>Reduce file size in acrobat maybe

Am I correct in thinking there might be some kind of feature that counts the occurences of single words in a document? Want to make sure I'm not repeating myself!

THX in advance for yr help.

there may be a more sophisticated way, but:

- ctrl + f
- enter your term
- check "highlight all items found in" and then select "current document" from the pull-down menu
- click on "find all"

it should give you a word count

Adam, you don't need that. Any good writer, by rereading to eliminate repetition, can get rid of repetition by careful rereading.

seven years pass...

Hi all - I need your help really quickly. I have some lyrics written out in Word 2007 that I want to annotate for a music video. Ideally I'd like the lyrics running down one side of the page with notes down the right hand side in a column. If I simply split it into columns the song gets split into two. Is there a way of doing this so that the song just goes down the left and my notes appear on the right?

Cheers!

Set a very narrow right margin for the document.

No, wait, you don't want to write your stuff by hand next to the lyrics.

Maybe create a table with two columns, put lyrics in the left column?

ah great, thanks. it's obvious now but i'd forgotten about tables. cheers brad
