I think I'm going to Finland this June. To see midnight sun, and go a film festival (called Midight Sun). And I here there'a a samba festival in Helsinki in June as well.
What else has Finland got?
Where should I stay/eat/drink?

The Midnight Sun film festival has a lot of fun activities like kayaking and snowshoeing! Most of these should be done while drunk!
Tampere is interesting, Helsinki is great, Oulu is...ummm, interesting.

I can only speak as a part-time resident of Helsinki, but I would recommend a bar tour of Kallio (the city's working-class neighbourhood). Check out some Finnish karaoke, where you'll also find some English tunes as well. You might the city frightfully quiet on mid-summer's eve, as plenty of city-dwellers head to the country right about then. It's an eerie place to be, sometimes. Hit the Market Hall near the harbour, where you'll find plenty of good Finnish delicacies (have the salmiakki fudge, if it's in stock). Find some terva-flavoured liquor, licorice and scented-candles. Try to head out to Suomenlinna, the island just in the distance in the harbour, a nice place for a picnic (and also a world heritage site). Last year, on mid-summer's eve which is also my birthday, I was fortunate enough to have a friend take me on his boat 'round the harbour. It was a great way to spend the longest day of the year.
For good food try Elite, in Töölö. A great, relaxed artist hangout. Lasi Palatsi is worth visiting, but just have a cocktail as the food is good but not great. But there are plenty of great restaurants in Helsinki (being a veggie, I have to say unequivocally that Helsinki has given me the best veggie meals anywhere, which may be a surprise to most).
Also, Bar 9 on Uudenmaankatu in the city centre is a nice hangout for Finnish celebrity gazing. There are a couple of other bars on Iso Roobertinkatu which are worth hanging out in for a few hours. Lost and Found can be fun after the other bars have closed (it's a gay/straight place).

Salty-licorice icecream. Indescribable. Average Finnish confectionary counter reverses expectations by having forty variations on licorice and a couple of types of chocolate. Also try Turkish Pepper sweets - like a licorice sherbet lemon, but the filling contains ammonium chloride.

nine years pass...
five years pass...
one month passes...
If one were in Finland there might be a small chance of bumping into Lasse Virén. That would be pretty cool imo.

Finnish baseball is mostly popular in smaller towns and rural areas, Helsinki for example doesn't currently have a team in the national league, even though it's by far the largest city in the country.
