I am employeed by a comedy club in VA where Mitch was scheduled to appear Wed. March 21st thru Today, the 26th. Unfortunately, Mitch has been 'ill' and just not shown up for work Wed, Thurs, and 2 shows on Friday. A phone call would have been nice, but we're all just standing around waiting and hoping he'll come staggering thru our door. So, Mitch if you ever read this, please remember that many people's livelyhood depend on your attendance.

My apartment is infested with koala bears. It's the cutest infestation ever. Way better than cockroaches. When I turn on the light, a bunch of koala bears scatter, but I don't want them too. I'm like, "Hey... Hold on fellows... Let me hold one of you, and feed you a leaf." Koala bears are so cute, why do they have to be so far away from me. We need to ship a few over, so I can hold one, and pat it on its head.

"Notice Scott Auckerman confirming it. Scott is a former cast member and writer on Mr. Show who knew Mitch and "in search of Sasquatch" is the owner of the board, so it's doubtful that they're just making it up. I've seen it mentioned on Louis CK's board as well. I've checked out several other comedy related boards so far and a lot of them are talking about it, but no real news sources have confirmed it yet. Apparently it just happened tonight."

RIP

Some of his best.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a major bummer. RIP, Mitch.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned,
that link doesn't have the one about the emergency brake should be called the make-the-car-smelly lever. I guess that's why you put Some of his best.

Ken L (Ken L), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Precisely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

He was totally Steven Wright for a new generation.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I will be sad if this is true.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

RIP

AW FUCK!
He was my fucking hero. Fuck fuck fuck.

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess they've been announcing it on howard stern all morning. his annoucements are running pretty parallel to what's on the above referenced message board--no facts seem to be known.

brad k! (brad k!), Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Fucking motherfucking goddamn.

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

His website (mitchhedberg.net) says it's been updated today, but there's no mention of him being dead.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

But the reveal could be on April 1. I mean, let's face it, Howard Stern is the only one reporting this (though it's not like Mitch is superfamous), and he's hardly a reliable source. Still...fuck.

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

He did us mitchs proud. RIP.
Does this mean Zach Galafanakis will be more popular now?

mitch dub (ano ano), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

ZG was on Conan last night, but I couldn't stay up. Is he good?

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Not that they're all that similar.

mitch dub (ano ano), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

He was pretty funny last night. But I find him to be generally annoying, kinda prissy or something. I never saw his show on VH1. He plays the piano and says stuff like "my girlfriend looks a little like Charlize Theron (two second piano break) and a lot like Patrick Ewing."

mitch dub (ano ano), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yet Jerry Falwell cheats death. Fucking a.

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Thursday, 31 March 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, March Fools is so well known.

Haha, that would've totally been something Mitch would have come up with, actually! But he never seemed the type to pull Kaufman type stunts, so my hopes are low :(

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Thursday, 31 March 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

there is NOTHING on the real news radar about this AT ALL. Only Howard Stern who has been talking about it all morning and a few internet messageboards.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 31 March 2005 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

this is the true national tragedy today, who cares about some liquid brain chick?

Barely a week goes by where I don't think of his donut shop receipt joke. "“I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughtnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, 'Don't even act like I didn't get that doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".'”

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 15 November 2010 03:41 (fifteen years ago)

supposedly after a Mitch bit one time, Letterman made reference to a gag he told later in the show. he never does that aparrantly and i've never seen him do that. anyone know what the line was? always wondered.
