british regional news broadcasting on TV will be a thing of the past by 2007 - C or D?

so says my relative, whos in that line of work. due to budget cutbacks apparently. theres only gonna be three main sources for TV news.

What's the usual crack about regional news, that it's 5 minutes of exciting news packed into half an hour? I tend to go with that; regional news IS pretty rubbish. It's demise will be of no great loss to me.

BBC have a commitment to it (though cross subsidies with local radio and selling crack to kiddies in playgrounds).
