How to deal with annoying people while I am watching the TV

Dear ILE,

So I was watching my show in the tv lounge, already having to put up with one moron who didn't know about the show yet felt qualified to weigh in on it a-a-and also to crack horribly insipid jokes during the course of the program. Then comes the resident LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS GIRL who is also very stupid when it comes to relating to things televisual (e.g. "Ooh I'm so excited for the old couple!"). How do I shut them the darn up without, you know, being a cockface?

Turn the TV up REAL LOUD. And keep turning it up until it's too loud for you to hear them chattering, but that's usually the same point it becomes so loud you can't make out what the tv's saying.
