Current Trends in Running Shoes

I started a thread about G Unit Merchandise on ILM. Today I was out shopping for running shoes (and shoe shoes) and I noticed once again that I like some of the designs that have been coming out in the last few years. There's a lot more stuff that just looks like something someone is going to wear, rather than looking mega-athletic and super-aerodynamic. I know there have been running shoes like that for a long time now, but it just seems like there's a greater variety of them. Also, weirder colors (in a good way) than I remember from, say, ten years ago.

Yeah, what's up with that? I got a pair of waterproof lace-up dress shoes yesterday that looked pretty good and were actually comfortable.
