kit kat editions: mango & passionfruit

in the name of research, we just got one of these.

verdict: a perfectly decent chunky kit kat bar ruined by runny "fruit" goop that tastes straight from the food lab test tube. possibly worse than the lime and yoghurt version.

i do these things so you don't have to, ilx.

I salute your bravery, but fear for your sanity.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:16 (twenty-one years ago)

they have Dark Chocolate ones in local safeway / morrisons, albeit only in two finger multipack form.

or are these those posh 'editions' ones? i have never tried those.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:19 (twenty-one years ago)

There seem to be so many new Kit Kats. Haven't tried this one, nor the lime one, the fancy Caramel one or the orange one.

I have tried the Caramac Kit Kat, and can pronounce this one of the finest delicacies in the Western world.

Rumpy Pumpkin, Monday, 9 May 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone managed to find a good source for Cadbury's 'with crispies' edition? You know: politically safe Nestle Crunch substitute?

suzy (suzy), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Kitkat should be available in these 'flavours'

Dark Choc Orange
Caramac-style
White Choc
Dark Mint Choc

and you should be able to buy variety packs that contain one 4-finger bar of each of those plus yer classic Milk Choc format.

I have tried the Caramac Kit Kat

woah, they're one step ahead of me - i hadn't seen this yet but i will soon join you in your approval i'm sure.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

yes, these are the "posh" ones. the caramel is fine but dull, as is the choc-orange one. what i'm confused by is why kit kat feels this need to branch out into wacky flavour territory and sully their good name. i'm tempted to seal up the large uneaten portion of our mango one and mail it back to customer service in protest.

xpost to suzy - whsmiths has giant "with crispies" ones.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

The Caramac Kit Kat is a massive diappointment. I should go cite it on the anger thread.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

we had an awesome kit-kat thread once, but i don't know where it went.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The shop across the street from my house sells all the Dairy Milk varieties, including the aforementioned Crispy Bits type. My favourite is the minty one, with the orange one coming a close second.

I emailed Cadbury at the beginning of the year to lament the lack of full Easter egg sized Creme Eggs. They berated me for my stupidity, advising that it would be too expensive to buy and impossible to market. A further poll round friends, family and workmates told me that most people would be willing to pay a fair amount for such a tooth melting beast.

I live in hope.

Rumpy Pumpkin, Monday, 9 May 2005 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I have yet to find the Curry Kit-Kat that appeared on that thread.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

The orange Kit-Kat tastes so wrong, it's right.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:31 (twenty-one years ago)

All the shops around here seem to do all the Cadbury EXCEPT the crispies one. Oh well, I can burn off the calories I plan to ingest by walking to King's Cross...

suzy (suzy), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Downstairs at my place, Cadburys Star Bars are 4 for a quid and my waistline is re-expanding, oboy.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

kit kat bars--some assorted thoughts

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

mango & passionfruit?! that just sounds like the anti-kit kat. lime & yoghurt?!?! is this a uk thing? lauren, are you a food tester or did you just find one & tried it on your own?

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:33 (twenty-one years ago)

The Caramac Kit Kat is a massive diappointment.

really? but how could they fck this up?

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't listen to him Sven! He lies!

Rumpie, Monday, 9 May 2005 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish i got paid to sit around all day and eat candy, but no.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Rumpie, though I'm normally dedicated to the ruin of Steve's life, you are crazed and dangerous.

I agree on the eewwness of the Mango K K. Total agreeance.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:43 (twenty-one years ago)

the caramac ones are a bit sweet if anything. nice though. dark ones aren't as dark as i'd've liked.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Mango is not a fruit that would go well with chocolate in my mind.

Nobody has mentioned the Lemon Cheesecake Kit-Kat. That may be because I dreamt it but it seems pretty vivid.

Rumpie, Monday, 9 May 2005 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Geebus! I'm gonna buy another one. I just don't think there's a) enough Cramac and b) too much wafer.

Actually, I do like the Lemon.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the Caramac to wafer ratio is finger licking perfect. Barima, methinks you want too much from it.

Rumpie, Monday, 9 May 2005 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

why does the uk get all the exciting candy?!

kelsey (kelstarry), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Kit-Kat Caramacs solve the problem of the standard Caramac, which is that there isn't enough going on to justify eating it.

Double Decker with Nuts is the big one for me at the moment.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I just want a Swiss Army Caramac. ilXor-murdering caramel gun as standard.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Kit-Kat Caramacs solve the problem of the standard Caramac, which is that there isn't enough going on to justify eating it.

that was my thinking, i figure the crunch factor would mean less of that sick feeling you can get from the standard ultra-sweet Caramac.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I think our individual Caramac sugar-detectors are what's keeping us from meeting on a level field.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

rumpie, by lemon cheesecake do you mean lemon yoghurt? those are my favorites to date.

there was another generic sweet thread where we (read 'i') went into this in detail. i think the pine fox started it.

koogs (koogs), Monday, 9 May 2005 15:20 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven months pass...
peanut butter. better than expected, very american.

koogs (koogs), Friday, 28 April 2006 11:23 (twenty years ago)

I am sick of people trying to integrate foreign flavours into the great British Kit-Kat.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 28 April 2006 11:28 (twenty years ago)

Peanut butter Kit Kats are OK but nowhere near as good as the discontinued peanut butter Lion bars. They were ace.
