Will Wendy herself be there? She's a stonecoldfox.

I wonder how many Junior Frosties it would take to fill an average household bathtub?

Just wondering.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

well, let's do the math. what the average volume of a tub?

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

* thread dies at mention of math *

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, let's think: a tub is roughly the size of a really fat guy, right? And human's are 98% water. And water weighs one kilogram per liter, right? And a really fat guy probably weighs, hmm, let's say 150 kg. So that means the volume of a tub is roughly 150 liters. So divide by the volume of a Jr Frostie and there you go.

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

okay, say the average bathtub is 3' x 6' x 2'

that's 36 cubic feet. Now according to my somehow-still-functional ti-85, that's about 269.3 US Gallons.

convert that to fluid oz, and you get 34,470 oz.

According to the Wendy's site, a Jr frosty is 6oz, and a Large is 20oz.

so 34470 / 6 = about 5,750 Jr Frosties
or 34470 / 20 = only about 1,720 Frosties

and there you go.

5745 Jr Frosties would fill an average household bathtub. be sure to get a large spoon/straw thing.

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

note, i couldn't find any metric bathtub or wendy's measurements, so i didn't feel like doing the extra conversions.

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a good weekend to try it, cuz they're free and all.

They have their ways.

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 11 May 2005 18:49 (twenty-one years ago)

that's 36 cubic feet. Now according to my somehow-still-functional ti-85, that's about 269.3 US Gallons.

There's no way that 269 plastic milk containers could fit in my bathtub.

My family has already thought of hoarding the Frosties in the freezer. Whenever company comes over, we can say "Would you like a Frostie?" Yeah, that's a dream.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

My friend Kevin and I are going to get a list of all the Wendy's joints in town, and hit each one sequentially, once each day this weekend -- we will gather all of the frosties we can and store them in my freezer for safekeeping. Then we will dance.

Goodbye Indian Summer (Dee the Lurker), Thursday, 12 May 2005 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

There's no reason to run all over town. Get one disguise! (or dozens, depending on how many frosties you're planning to horde).

five years pass...

In July 1986 two short-lived variants were introduced. Lack of popular appeal led to their removal from the menu in September 1986.
Frosty-Tea - A combination of a traditional Frosty with sweetened tea. It was promoted as a late afternoon "pick me up."
Frosty-Forster - An extra large Frosty made with chunks of chocolate and cherries. It was named in honor of California Angels pitcher Terry Forster and promoted mainly in the Orange County, California region.

My mom used to bring us back Frosties and we learned to make these into the best ice pops ever by sticking a popsicle stick into the Frostie and letting it go rock-solid in the freezer. Then you peel the paper cup from around the outside and HEY PRESTO impromptu fudgesicle.

just sayin, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 13:35 (fourteen years ago)

Key thing: drink half the Frostie before using the plastic lid to keep the popsicle stick in position. Then you get to enjoy your Frostie twice - once when your mom gets back from the drive-through and then four hours later, when the other half is frozen solid and your little sister (who inhaled all of hers at point of delivery) can do little else but watch part two of your enjoyment with envy.

rural lidl (suzy), Tuesday, 12 July 2011 13:49 (fourteen years ago)

When this promo first happened, I even brought frosties home for the cat.

Pleasant Plains, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

The Wendy's across the street from my work was shut down because of asbestos in the building, according to the signs in the windows. As was the McDonald's, the Cafe Metro, and like two other places. Ghost town, overnight! So last week I walked like 7 blocks at lunch-time to where Wendy's website said the next closest restaurant was...but it's been turned into a Pret. NO FROSTIES FOR MEEE.

letting it go rock-solid in the freezer

This is so so so wrong! The Frosty's greatest charm is its creamy but ever so slightly granulated texture as served fresh. When they freeze and then rethaw, it's all wrong!!!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 23:36 (fourteen years ago)

frosties were/are awesome tho i haven't had one in years

when i drove a delivery van the baked potato/chili lunch was a staple (2 dollars!)

best ice cream wotsits from fast food places were the JaMocha shake from Arbys, a Hardees shake and the Frostie imo

the McDonalds and Burger King shakes never seemed COLD

brownie, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 23:45 (fourteen years ago)

Agree on the weird McDonalds shakes up until recently, when they changed/improved the formula. They still weirdly don't seem cold, but they definitely taste better/richer and are now served with a whipped cream topper.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 12 July 2011 23:47 (fourteen years ago)

Since my first job was busting out malts, floats and the like in a proper drugstore soda fountain, I'm pretty picky about my malts... and the Arby's JaMocha shake is an vomitty abomination compared to even McDonald's. The Frostie is easily the best fast-food shake I had as a kid. We decided to freeze it because of Malt Cups, a frozen treat available for 25¢ at the local roller rink (malt frozen solid in a cup, with one of those wooden spoonish things). When my mom banned us from going roller skating there because the rink was full of unacceptably daggy teens, we had to improvise on Malt Cups.

No, Wendy's. You need to keep your olde-timey super-seriffed font on the sign. For God's sake, keep the familiar Wendy's up there. Having pigtails that roll up like little red penises is not what I want to see on your signs. You aren't Dairy Queen. You don't serve food inside a truck stop. You aren't light and breezy. You are Wendy's - home of solariums, little tables with olde fashioned advertisements from yesteryear for monocles and cocaine, something called the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe and of course the frosties.

What, they're putting Oreo crumbs in the frosties now? YOU'RE NOT DAIRY QUEEEN.
