Hot on the heels of everything else recently which has appeared to be the nadir of television comes this, a strong contender in anyone's book.

Get in quick before it's pulled, ITV must be doing HARD SUMS just now to see whether they can save money cancelling it before the weekend.

Kelly Brook is somehow making her stint on the Big Breakfast look like a masterclass in tv presenting, and it's got that annoying cunt Kielty on it.

Almost everyone here seems retarded. Take this gem from Fran Cosgrove, have just upset Abi Titmuss by calling her promiscuous - "I didn't know what promiscuous meant in England, in Dublin it just means that you like the craic." No pun intended, obviously. And it's entertaining watching Titmuss without the EXTENSIVE AIRBRUSHING that must be in evidence for every shoot she does for Nuts/Zoo etc. I'd be amazed if you could get a bookie to give you anything outside even money that she and Loos will lezz up at some point - Titmuss has dropped enough hints already that she intends to, while complaining on the show that nobody understands her, and she's annoyed her public image is as some kind of sexual predator.

That said, I

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Why watch?

$V£N! (blueski), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm addicted to shit celebrity reality shows, and even I turned this over to watch a bunch of yuppies moan about losing their coke funds on Channe 4.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:53 (twenty-one years ago)

is billy zane in it? he's a cool dude.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

That said, I watched it and therefore added to the ratings and therefore it's actually MY fault, isn't it?

Just thought I'd finish that sentence for you.

I was listening to Simon Reynolds being interviewed by an arrogant fuckwit on Resonance FM at the time, before going to bed.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Dom is OTM, but I think I must be more addicted than him. That said, I was flicking over from time to time.

Anyway, my first post should have finished that I love Jayne Middlemiss. Her blubbing to camera was almost unbearably twee. "I went to Brownie camp once, and it wasn't like this. I want my Mam."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

I felt rather ill after watching all of it, yea Gods. What are Jayne Middemiss and Lee Sharp doing there? They seemed too normal, or at least I thought this until I heard Jayne say she thought Real Madrid were an Italian team. She's done a bloody good job of hidding how stupid she is until now.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

WHY WATCH IT THEN

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

who's presenting?

N_RQ, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

A bloke and a woman. No idea who they are, so let's say: Jimmy Webb and Professor Susan Greenfield.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

A bizarre need to see the first one, so I can ignore it from a researched position later.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

A fiver says you will watch every last episode and LOVE it!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

You're on.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

kelly in a summer dress=classic

lukey (Lukey G), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The dress was the best thing in the whole show.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

CLI took a 23% audience share, compared to 28% for the 10 O'Clock news.

Owned.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The vote for the "couple in the shack"...

1 hour of "Look what a sweet couple" one pairing shown.

59 minutes of people spending money by ringing in and doing what they were told.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and we also love Jayne Middlemiss in our house too.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Lucky fellow. How often?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i watched it out of morbid curiosity ... that and there was absolutely nothing else on the tv....nothing.

battlingspacemonkey (battlingspacemonkey), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

There was something about this programme in the metro free paper this am, amid all the ususal stories about dead children. It sounds utterly fucking dreadful.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 11:48 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost)

You could have watched that cop thing on BBC1 with Amanda Redman bossing lots of old actors around...mmm-hmm...

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 12:14 (twenty-one years ago)

So, what happened? Anything?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 07:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know. The eloquence of Marcello's rhetoric persuaded me I shouldn't watch it again.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 18 May 2005 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The dolphins were nice...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 19 May 2005 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Cattiness between Abi and Jayne, one evening.

Zim zam zum.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 20 May 2005 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Now the tabloids are stoking the Kielty/Brook fightness.

Urr, anyone following this at all? I tune in, people standing around a pool, some wave their arms, someone jumps in, umm that's it.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 May 2005 08:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just agog for Celebrity Shark Bait.

Matt (Matt), Monday, 23 May 2005 08:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I tried to watch this last night, and apart from gigglez at the guy from Hollyoaks pissed and spoiling for a fight it was just people lying on sun loungers. I'm amazed the ratings are actually as high as they are.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 07:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm just agog for Celebrity Shark Bait.

Celebrity Jump the Shark, surely.

David Merryweather (DavidM), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Um, but when did this program actually JTS?

"Hello, welcome to the first episode of Celebrity Love Island, I'm Patrick" "And I'm Kelly" "Whoa! Hooray, we made it over the shark!!!"

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I actually managed to sit through this last night, and it's still an astonishing display of people DOING NOTHING. I wouldn't feel safe in the same building as Paul Danan, he's just about ready to rape the first person who shows a sign of weaknees.

"I'm just going to grope you for a bit, OK?" may well become my new catchphrase.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:14 (twenty-one years ago)

weak knees, yep.

"And Now we have Leeeeeee... From Leeeeeeedssss"

Funny the first time. by time 17, however.

Oh, blummin Keith Harris and Orville won the Farm. JICYC!

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm actually kinda enjoying this, mostly I think because I have a weird fascination for watching people. Even people who don't really do anything.

It's fun watching Titmuss reveal herself as being so bonkers and self-obsessed, and she's clearly consumed by jealousy over the whole Calum/Rebecca Love Shack malarky, esp when she bleated "Calum said he wanted to marry me! But, okay, if he doesn't, then I'll just, you know, have a go at one of the other blokes instead". Looney-tunes.

C J (C J), Friday, 27 May 2005 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Update? I've not been watching for oooh...

(Who's gone?)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul The Comedy Rapist got removed from the main crowd for a day or so after another drunken fight with Fran. He got let back in 10 minutes before the phone lines closed but the nation still voted Michael Greco out.

In other news, CLI beat BB on Saturday night.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 June 2005 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

How?

Negativa, True Believer (You know you love it when I'm dressed in drag) (Barima), Monday, 6 June 2005 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm still wondering that myself, but the ratings do not lie.

BB Ratings: Love Island tops BB on Saturday

Filed: 17:15, Day 10 by Neil Wilkes

Celebrity Love Island topped BB in the ratings for the first time last night (Saturday), according to early figures.

The latest Z-list antics on the Fijian isle interested 3.18 million (20.5%) at 10.25pm, a half million ahead of the 2.68 million (12.8%) who had tuned in to watch highlights of day 8 in the house at 9.15pm.

However, the figures remain consistent with the same show last year, when 2.8 million saw the first Saturday night challenge unfold live.

Maybe this year's BB contestants are all just too repugnant?

Playboy model to spice up 'Love Island'
Friday, June 3 2005, 23:49 BST -- by Neil Wilkes

ITV is hoping a former Playboy model will inject new life into its ailing reality show Celebrity Love Island.

Nikki Ziering, who has had small parts in American Pie and Austin Powers, will arrive on the Fijian island this weekend.

Also checking in to the resort is professional surfer Paul Fisher, who Abi Titmuss was seen flirting with during an excursion earlier this week.

Meanwhile, ex Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan was allowed back into the villa after being removed during a violent row with Fran Cosgrave.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 6 June 2005 11:09 (twenty-one years ago)

When Paul got angry at Abi for her "Who are you again?" joke..

Was I the only one who thought he had a point?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 11:15 (twenty-one years ago)

guess so then...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul's eyes look weird, like he's all drugged-up or something.

I watched it last night, and the preview of them bringing that new girl into the resort was excellent. She's some bleached blonde & tanned Hollywood actress I've never heard of, with big tits and a liking for orgies. The look on the CLI girls' faces when they met her was priceless. Instant jealousy. The British public, being the way we are, will probably vote the foreign interloper out at the first opportunity though :)

C J (C J), Monday, 6 June 2005 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul "I wanna marry her now!"

He is 14, isn't he?

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Lee in the love shack, Abi expects the vote to go in. Is gutted when Nikki gets the public vote instead.

Or did she? I'm guessing the prog makers are doing whatever they like and not counting the votes really.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 08:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought that too, Mark. It's all a bit too convenient that Nikki got the 'public vote', and I'm sure the makers are just trying to see how much more Titmuss can take before she cracks up (she's already convinced that everybody hates her). They're probably hoping for a spectacular meltdown.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 11:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, Abi's in now and all is happy and joyful.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 9 June 2005 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I just worked out yesterday who Abi reminded me of.

Dido.

Just me, probably.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 9 June 2005 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Calum is Gone!

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I said, Calum is Gone!

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 June 2005 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Jayne and Fran are in the 'Love shack'

It all ends this week, by the way.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 07:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, I'm wrong, its next week.

Um, something else happened yesterday. Ask nicely...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

What happened yesterday mark?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 16 June 2005 09:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, REbecca was voted off, and Paul 'let down' nikki nicely. For once.

Oh, and something funny happened, but I forget what.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 16 June 2005 09:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Now nikki's gone, and Abi is seemingly trying hard to keep thingy as her partner to get all the munny, sole reason.

Um, Liz. She's still in it despite not 'pairing' or doing anything notable. She must have a massive fan base who cares, so will probably end up winning the cash on behalf of the girls. Dawn is convinced Paul will never get a girlfriend again after his performance on this show, but I'm thinking he'll be fighting them off as they all love a bad lad.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 17 June 2005 09:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely women will be fighting off Paul 'RapeEyes' Danan?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 17 June 2005 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't watch it at all over the weekend, but on tuning in at 01:30 last night, I find Jayne, Liz, Fran and Lee around a table giggling. I think Abi had just gone. "You alright" Jayne to Lee "yeah, I'm OK" lee.

So, out of the girls, it seems surprising that Liz is still there seeing as how she's been very low profile. But in a way, no.

These Celeb progs are always based on "vote for your favourite" so the mass block vote from Scousers and Geordies have made sure Jayne and Liz are there. Jayne being of better value to the program, it would seem to suggest that the whole series had negligible effect and that the public voted for who they like not who they enjoyed. But, there arent many progs that say "vote for who to go" (Big Brother only, now?) and certainly Celebrities won't sign up for That kind of screw-tiny.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 20 June 2005 07:39 (twenty years ago)

anyway, tonight is the FINAL NIGHT...

last night, some funny stuff based on "Dirty Dancing" and the phrase "yer dirty bitch" by Jayne and Liz which no doubt will not be shown...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 20 June 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

So, Jayne and Fran be the winners.

Mixed emotions for Jayne, on the one hand she won, on the other they showed her "Oh I can't go on, I really luv Lee but I have to pretend not to oh o woh"...

Go on. Youse care, really.
